So, bunnies, how was your Thanksgiving? Tell us about your day. Where did you spend it? Who with? What did you do? What did you have to eat? And what are you thankful for?
Thankful. Thank you. ze frank waxes eloquent about "thank you". Worth watching - the man has a point.

(hi from canada - no thanksgiving here, tho i had pasta and then drinks with friends who are very cool. ^_^ )

I ate beanstewsoup with specklet and a small portion of her family. Then we watched movies. It was nice.

I am thankful that I have a roof over my head tonight because holy cats is it cold out.

i did stuff the day before, and i've already said before, and i got to spend a goodly chunk of the day with mechats chatting, which was really nice. Thanks.

Thank you for asking, jan, and, thank you, zack, for ze frankness, and thanks to arsehat for being arsehat, and, and monkeys and--
"--bless us, every one, Tiny Hugh Janus! Bless us, every one."

i'll take to my bed now, thank you.
Thank you and good night.

Tiny Hugh Janus! Thank you for the oxymoron. And you're welcome, and good night, ethylene.

LOL, that sounds like "beanstewsoup with croutons and a small portion of fries" or something maybe a bit more cannibalistic. Or maybe that's just me. It usually is...

Nothing special for me here in old blighty. In fact the only thing worth celebrating is the fact that there are only 14 days to go before the Wii is released here.

I may throw a teabag into my bath later on as a mark of respect for the American Bunnies.

I still can't get past the fact that the Wii is pronounced Wee, which is what I had to do when I was young. "I have to go wee!"

I had turkey and stuffing and the usual with pips' family, then we visited my family and I got to see my new nephew Tully (I still don't like that name), he's only a week old. He dosen't look quite aware that he's been born yet.

I assumed the "Wee" thing was a british thing, but maybe not. It's amazing how quickly the urinary sniggering died down on this one though. Although "Waving my WiiMote about for interactive play." still sounds pretty rude.

We had my mom over for Thanksgiving dinner. My partner cooked ham, a turkey breast, blackeyed peas and mac and cheese, deviled eggs and cranberry sauce. My mom brought the sage dressing, which has been a favorite part of my holidays ever since I was a Wii child.

This was my first Thanksgiving off work in 9 years, so it was wonderful getting to celebrate again. I'm really thankful for my family, my home, and the life I lead, and I try never to take any of those things for granted.

Nice, BP. :)

mrs chewy and I hung with another friend - we went to a blues place for a buffet, except I got the hours wrong and they closed 30 mins after we got there, but were in good spirits and let us chow while they cleaned and closed up shop. After that we drove around and looked at some stuff under construction. After that we went to see the movie, The Queen, which was really very well done, I thought. I'm curious to know what those across the pond and other non USians think of it.

I'm thankful for my working lifestyle and our wonderful hairy family of four leggers. It still feels like a date, going to the movies with mrs chewy, even after 6 1/2 years. :) I'm also thankful I finally have my own home to spend the holidays in however untraditionally I choose. And I'm thankful for all the cool and lovely people who make MeCha what it is.

I spent Thanksgiving with my partner's family, for the first time. This means I had to tell my own large family that I wouldn't be around to cook this year.

So instead of spending Wednesday chopping, mixing, cleaning, and wishing I could sit down, staying up until midnight Wednesday to get the turkey into the brine, and then waking by six a.m. to wrestle that chilly, slithery beast out of the bucket of brine and into the oven, I spent it relaxing with my sweetie. Wednesday evening, we brought dinner over to my sister's bakery, and she sent us home with five pies.

Thursday, we drove my partner's mother down to his sister's house outside Boston, where we met up with the rest of the family and celebrated Thanksgiving and my fella's dad's birthday. It was cozy.

I missed my own family, especially since this is our first Thanksgiving without my father. But we had a wonderful day, and I'm glad we went.

I'm thankful for so much good fortune, and so much to make the bad fortune more bearable. But this year I am most thankful for D, my partner. who has been kind and solid and emotionally generous every day that I've known him.

We had the third annual gathering of "people who couldn't have dinner with their families because they all have to work Thanksgiving or the day after" at my friend Minnie's place.

As usual it was lazy and wonderful. Six of us drank a case of wine, a case of beer and a couple of bottles of apple lambic. Oh yeah, and ate a turkey and ten bajillion sides. I took the turkey bones home to make stock and our place smells fantastic today!

I'm thankful for my life, pretty much. Wonderful husband, great friends -- can't get much better than that.

Best Thanksgiving ever. Wednesday night was the kick off reunion improv show. A bunch of out of towners in for the holiday and some of us ex-improvers are invited to perform with the regulars on their Wednesday night gig. One of my most favorite people always does it, and seeing him in real life as opposed to on teevee is a joy. It was my first time performing improv in about six years. There were a buncha people, so I didn't have to do much, and it was fine while I was up there, but at intermission I was a puddle as all the adrenaline left my body. I'm surprised I didn't have a heart attack Doing "Lou Ferigno on acid" in front of 75 people. Then the old schoolers repaired to our home and partied till about four am.

Turkey day at the MIL's was nice - we were last arrivals for the first time so didn't have to wait, and all the kids are officially sentient beings (over 12) by now, which was nice. After ten-ish years, it was the first time that place felt like family on a holiday, so that was interesting.

Today, my best friend from High School who I haven't seen in years is coming to the house. I gotta go get ready for that.

I'm thankful for my new job, old and new friends, the pets, and living in the time that I do. I can dither on the computer and work and not have to raise kids. If I was a fifties housewife, I'd be on Miltown Martinis all day, and be putting glass in the tuna casserole.

Happy Thanksgiving all bunnies - and I really mean it!

I celebrated Thanksgiving in the cradle of my youth, watching football (Werder Bremen beating Chelsea FC) and football (whatever the boring Niffle games were) with my dad and helping my Mom with the meal -- turkey, dressing, gravy, sweet potatoes, sauerkraut, cranberry relish -- and then IRCing with mechanisms briefly before going to a small party at a friend's house, where we sat around talking about exotic animal husbandry, airplane pilot licensing, and responsible land use well into the night.

"Thankful" is a funny word for me to use, because I don't know whom to thank. I'm happy and satisfied, as I almost always am, and my family is a big part of that, as are my friends, as is the feeling that I'm doing what I want and that it's leading somewhere. I guess I'd be thankful for that, and for that I have so many people to thank, including myself, that I wonder if the "thank" formulation is appropriate. I'd rather specifically tell everyone who makes me feel satisfied and happy that they make me satisfied and happy. And I guess I'd thank them. Not being a higher power kinda dude, people and things are the only real targets of my gratitude, and I feel like, that being the case, that I should thank everyone and everything for the cool way I'm turning out.

So thanks, my fellow mechanisms, and happy Thanksgiving.

I slept late, went to see my father who is now out of ICU and much better than the day before he had his surgery, then to my aunt's relatives for dinner--to whom I am very grateful for including me. Later, I went to see Stranger than Fiction, which is quite good.

Where did you find the apple lambic, gaspode? I've only seen raspberry, cassis, strawberry, peach and unflavored gueze.

I went to my brother-in-law and sister-in-laws house. They just completed an addition, and the as-yet unfurnished family room made a fantastic dining room. Bonus kids table in the breakfast room-close, but not too much. My father-in-law is doing much better, thank God. Dinner was great, company greater, though my teen age stepson was troubling. All in all a good time. I'm thankful that my father-in-law seems to be getting better, that my kids are all healthy, that I'm busy and enjoying work, for my husband, and our vast assortment of friends (both in RL and on-line). Whether or not you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope everyone here has lots of things to be thankful for.

This was my first thanksgiving as a married man, so we spent lunch with my wife's family, and dinner with my family. It was weird having two meals back to back with similar dishes, but overall I enjoyed the experience.

The mum and I cooked all day: turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, sauteed mushrooms, mince pie and we also had apple pie*, gherkins and croissants. The mister (he had to work), the mum and I sat down about 7pm and proceeded to stuff ourselves. It was kind of "stripped down" food-wise but we had all our favourites.

*The apple pie was left behind by the previous owners. She made it from our apple tree and left it in the freezer for us. It was glorious.

And I'm with Hugh. I'm thankful for many things yet I'm not sure whom to thank. I guess I'll just be thankful to and for: you bunnies, the mister, my mum, the new house, my wee beasties, et cetera ad nauseum.

I woke up early and replaced the brakes (okay, the brake pads) in my car, then washed my hands and started cooking. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade rolls, cranberry chutney and pumpkin cheesecake. Ate dinner with some family members, then took a long nap, turned on some music, finished reading Will Beall's L.A. Rex, read websites and chatted for a while, then went to bed.

brujita, the same folks who make the widely-available lambic (You know the one I mean. Lindeman's? That sounds right) just introduced a green apple flavor. Ask at your liquor store.

I'm thankful (with that Hugh/deborah-style caveat) for the connections I feel with people, and the connections I see in the world. And a billion other things, but that's a start.

looking back i had a great thanksgiving! but lordy i spent the day before and day of cooking like a galley slave! between the 3 of us cooks we made : 44 mini pumpkin pies, 2 apple pies, 1 fruit tart, 1 big ol roast turkey, 2 kinds of stuffing, korean pancakes, spicy green beans, roasted root veggie tarts, jeweled rice salad, beet and goat cheese salad, mashed potatoes, giblet gravy, amazingly tasty rolls, corn pudding, cranberry orange sauce and actually a few more things! My back and hands are unbelievably sore but it was fun! I got to cook with my favorite cooking buddy and as usual we damn overdid it but somehow most of that food got eaten (happily) by the nice guest who brought bottles and bottles of wine!

i can't believe how much food we made BUT almost every guest brought pie (several varieties) and it was waaay more fun than you think to gather in the kitchen drinking coffee with the ladies and eyeing our handiwork (no fucking around aside from my 44 mini pies we had like 8 pies!)

ow my hands!

and i am always thankful, really!

I feel like a wet blanket. I should be more thankful - Thanksgiving just seemed not as good as usual this year; too much work and not enough fun and it just didn't go smoothly. I was up Wednesday night til after 2 cleaning the house and then the next day I cleaned and cleaned and cooked and cooked: turkey, stuffing, mashed potatos, creamed onions (which exploded - when I pulled them out of the oven I put them on the stove for lack of anywhere else and then turned on the wrong burner), ginger carrots, broccoli, roasted squash soup, green bean casserole, 2 kinds of cranberry sauce, shrimp, cheese & bread platter, rolls (I burned them) and then the gravy refused to become gravy & I caught a stove burner on fire & then the kids left to buy gravy at the store & everything got cold; the person I invited on the spur of the moment without knowing very well turned out to be allergic not only to dogs but also to candles & firelight, so we couldn't have either, which kind of sucked; my mom brought the pies which weren't as good as my pies would have been if I'd made them, also my mom & I aren't getting along very well right now, the kids complained all day and then, naturally, I drank way too much so now I'm hungover and the house is a mess.

I just wanted to add that we watched "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" on television Thanksgiving night, and it was more enjoyable than even I remembered. Highly underrated movie, that.

To anyone who had a sub-par holiday - the worm will turn - there are great ones in your futures, and surely shitty ones in mine.

I had the most laidback Thanksgiving ever. My husband and I stayed home and cooked side dishes (no turkey, he's a vegetarian and I just don't like turkey) and a friend of mine from work came over and we ate some yummy foods and then napped and played computer games. Hoorah!

I'm thankful for my life, the whole bit, it's pretty sweet at the moment.

I had TWO Thanksgivings. I went over to my friend Scott's place and while he prepped the bird and made cornbread stuffing, his girlfriend Cindy and I watched last week's episodes of "Heroes" and BSG.
Then I made garlic mashed potatoes and helped Cindy clean, while getting ripped on Scott's homebrew.
Quinn and his girlfriend Emily showed up with two sweet potato pies and we sat down to eat around 6.
We switched to wine with dinner and it was excellent!

Tonight was the 11th "Orphanz Thanksgiving," which is basically Thanksgiving with the family you get to choose. This year was at Tess' house. I spent the afternoon making two buttermilk pies. Then my friend Oani and her fella Dean picked me up and we went to Tess'. The place was full and everyone was laughing and talking. Tess had a nice fire going and the kitchen smelled wonderful!
Matt and I trade doing the mashed potatoes every year, so he made them this time. Tim brought his excelled stuffed mushroom caps. Tess' neighbor handed a huge caramel apple pie over the fence. Scott made Kufta, Maria brought mushroom gravy and stuffing, Adam made an excellent bruschetta and Jay brought top shelf tequila and whiskey!
There were three new faces this year. A couple of guys that Tess' boyfriend works with, one of whom moved to Seattle a year ago and his wife. They all fit right in!
Tess' turkey was a little better than Scott's and the bacon/brussel sprouts dish was freakin' ossem!
Everyone liked the buttermilk pie and we killed the El Tesoro and the Basil Hayden.

After dinner we hung out awhile, then Scott, Cindy and I went to catch our new favorite local band, the wonderfully amateurish Coconut Coolouts at the Bad JuJu Lounge.

Thankful? You bet your ass!
