Not sure if I have a fave, but I've always liked the Goldeneye sequence, and for 60's kitsch it's definitely From Russia With Love, though I like the Shirley Bassey and the Tom Jones songs (Goldfinger and Thunderball, respectively).
Dude. Max Smart had a phone in his fucking shoe, man. It does not get any cooler. Plus, Agent 99 cut a 45 that was better than any Bond theme. (I have it on CD somewhere)
Screeching Weasel did a song about Agent 99.
I still think The Prisoner is the best evah. And I've seen every single Get Smart episode when growing up, and liked 'em. Maybe they're just in different classes.
I suppose we should shout out Inspector Clouseau, who isn't really a secret agent, but still a master of ...um... intrigue. Yeah that's it. Intrigue and stuff.
Well, I've always been more of a plodding, beleaguredgumshoe guy than a dashing Secret Agent Man fan, as it were. (I have that song at home, too, along with Edwin Starr's "Agent Double-O Soul." I shoulda taken the day off.)
You say "James Garner," to someone my Dad's age and he'll say "Maverick." Someone our age, he'll say "Jim Rockford." Someone my 20-year-old sister's age, "Who?"
jon, I'm older than your sister and younger than you, and I mostly think of Garner as the guy who did a bunch of ads for the beef industry (and then had quintuple-bypass surgery).
