Happy Thanksgiving, Bunnies →[More:]
And don't forget to thank your momma's, aiight?
HAPPY THANKSGIVING.
HAVA BLESSED ONE.
THANK YOU
-jf-
A mother's kiss before the blessing of a Sunday dinner
Can make a loser feel blessed
Maybe even like winners
So I work my whole life for anything I could give her
Rent, light and gas money for the house
I deliver
Even if I have to struggle and go scrapin' the street
Even if I have to borrow bread for somethin' to eat
Even if I have to go to work with holes in my shoes
And cold feet
Best believe she gonna have the best meat
That's just how I say "Gracias." to mommy for rasin'
A kid from the Brooklyn skidz
And almost beyond savin'
While she slavin' in the kitchen I was misbehavin'
Callin' Rome on the house phone
To hear the ring tone
I know I ain't alone in sayin' that I owe her my blood
She was there for me at rock bottom sinkin'
In mud
But, just the smile on her face when her son took his place
Among degree and diploma holders
Helps me to face
The paper chase of the rotten apple and the whole world
The daily hustle and the grind and the
"goin' for mine"
The constant ritual relationships cut into one's soul
And for the strength to get the thread
To self-stitch up the fold
Even grown men gotta let it heal for a minute
Before they get back in it
Chasin' time that they lost
But I never complain
I chalk it up to payin' the cost
For livin' free and not ever bein' shameful but thankful
I THANK YOU, MOMMA!
