oookayyyy.... [More:]

I guess this could serve as my own personal Cranky Old Woman post except for the part where I distinctly recall being nineteen and incredulous that girls in Chicago were wearing micro-minis in sub-zero January weather... but I digress.

Ladies, guys, quonsar... anyone? - please enlighten me:

WTF is up with wearing flipflops in 28-degree weather? seriously, that can't possibly be comfortable.
Heh. I do that sometimes. I actually have fleece-lined flip-flops I wear when it's cold. I just hate shoes. My piggies need freedom.

I also hate coats and only wear one when I'm going to be outside for an extended period of time.

Me too. I love being barefoot, and wear flip flops for as long as humanely possible. Having socks or closed shoes on makes me really hot. I wear Uggs (loose, and without socks) when it's bitterly cold out, but otherwise...flip flops! I wear them all year round. I have to get me some fleece-lined ones, jrossi! I saw them last year in AE but didn't buy them - I think I got them for my daughter, if I recall. I used to laugh at her for her year-round flip-floppin' ways, but now I'm right there with her. I love bare, free toes!

Me too about the coat! I hate putting one on. I go from my heated house to my heated car and drive to work, no need for a coat. Yet every day when I walk in everyone goes OMIGOD where is your coat?

A friend of mine wears flip flops all year round. Even when it was raining in drainage-free LA (4 inches of water on the ground). At least her socks didn't get wet.

Fleece-lined flip flops? Are those custom made?

No.

Exactly! It really freaks people right out though, doesn't it?

I bought the fleece flip-flops at Target a couple years ago. Apparently nobody else did, though, because at the end of the season they were on clearance for like $3. I bought five pairs because I thought, "these shoes are so stupid, no one will ever manufacture them again and I must stock up!"

Heh. A lot of Pacific Islanders around here wear flip flops all year round, with long shorts. And a parka.

I like it, because it's such a cultural statement, but I don't know how it can be comfortable.

(fleece flip flops sound really comfy, and good for around-the-house footwear)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who over-packs for a vacation. || Postcard from St Kitts.
