Thanks to the illustrious arse_hat, here's Southside Johnny, Little Steven and Bruce Springsteen singing "It's Been A Long Time" (YSI). Dave Marsh once wrote of Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell's "Your Precious Love" 'this is what love sounds like." Well, this song is what friendship sounds like. These three were together in New Jersey when nobody was anybody and you can hear it in the way their voices mingle and the relaxed cameraderie. It's hard not to be moved by it.
What a nice find, jonmc. I loved it.

As an extra special bonus, here's the earliest recordings of the Boss in existence. These are the Castiles, featuring a 16-year old Bruce on guitar and background vocals, recorded in a Monmouth County strip mall. The lead singer is Bruce's friend and neighbor George Theiss. The original drummer, Bart Haynes (on the far left in this pic) was drafted and died in Vietnam, perhaps being one of 'the comrades we've lost' referred to in 'It's Been A Long Time.'

But without further ado, here's the Castiles:

Baby I
That's What You Get

(poor sound quality, but all things considered, it's amazing that it can be found at all, and their both really nice pieces of garage rock)
