12 November 2006

It's been raining a bit in Tillamook [More:]and that means the cows are coming home. To many homes. We are awash in cows. Displaced cows are kept in special spots until they can be shooshed home. This is so the occasional 500 gallon propane tank that decides to careen down Highway 101 doesn't tip a wayward cow and turn it into Hamburger Helper. I have to go back and help shovel cow poo out of our restaurant now. See ya.
Eeesh!

On this note, how are all of our PNWers doing? Is everyone dry and ok? Roofs holding up?

The house is fine, but my sunroof in the pimobile seems a bit leaky. I figure I should take it to an auto glass shop and see if they can do something about it.

Despite being in the middle of the worst drought in recorded history, we had 50mm of rain fall within 30 minutes the other day - someone much better at maths than me calculated that something like 40 million tonnes of rain fell on our city during that period and there were something like 20,000 lightning strikes recorded in the same time. But still, we have level 4 water restrictions and can't water our gardens except with buckets for a few hours on 3 days per week. The problem here is, they built all the dams where it doesn't rain and all the houses where it does.

Totally irrelevant, I know, but I felt like sharing these things because I don't feel like working, multiple looming deadlines notwithstanding.

This is the first time in a couple years where it's November and I'm not living in a basement. It's very, very pretty awesome.
