Another good day so far ... →[More:]I had to take the furgirls to the vet this morning for their annual checkup. My
vet, Alistair's, a good friend, he used to live very close by, his garden backed onto mine and his cat,
Stanley, would come round every day looking for Bailey. Alistair and his wife moved about a year ago, and Bailey misses her boyfriend.
Anyway, no problems with the cats, except that Bailey has a tiny heart murmur, but nothing to worry about. But six hours later they are still sulking, despite a peace offering of tuna. Oh they ate it, of course, but still hate me. But they'll soon get over it and will go back to just ignoring me.
I've spent the last hour preparing dinner for friends coming over tonight - roast lamb, into which I've cut little slits and pushed garlic and rosemary in, and I'm serving it with Mediterranean roasted vegetables and new potatoes. I've made apple crumble and custard to follow. I love to cook.
Then we're off out to meet up with some more friends at an AA party. People I've not seen for years, so I'm looking forward to catching up.
I'm really, really grateful for the good days I'm having. Next Tuesday will be the first anniversary of George's death, and I know it'll be a hard day for me, so I'm glad I'm having a few good ones in the run-up.
