The "Lost" fall season is over! Spoilers surely inside.[More:]
Sure ended with a pfffffffft. Was that a cliffhanger? Maybe I've just stopped caring. I remember Eko being my favorite character at one point, but when he died last week I was all *shrug*.

But... we have OMG SIXTEEN EPISODES IN SIXTEEN WEEKS to look forward to. Whee.

"Grey's Anatomy" is new tonight!
Yeah. It was profoundly anticlimactic. They can't do romance well* and should really stop trying. And I don't want to see Sawyer telling people he loves them and being a pussy and stuff. Blech.

*With the exception of the scene where Rose takes the chocolate bar and puts it in her pocket to save it for Bernard, such is her faith that he's alive. That made me cry.

"I'm acting as Gabe's proxy in this strip - essentially, he's "broken up" with Lost. It's complicated by the fact that he holds weekly "Lost Nights," where Lost-themed snacks are sometimes offered, but he's come to conclusion that there's no story actually being told. He no longer believes that events are happening according to some overarching plan. Watching the show now is apparently awful, because where he once perceived a carefully revealed structure he now just sees a couple guys out back beneath a tarp, flashlights held under the chin.

Listening intently to his grievances, it sounded to me like a kind of classic Snipe Hunt scenario, where your dad (or troop leader, or some other bastard) might haul you and your friends into the woods to seek out imaginary birds. A stone might be thrown while you are not looking, and the sound that results is attributed to the Snipe; or, if nothing is heard, this too is construed to be sure evidence of Snipe Activity."

Those guys are on the cutting edge of everything Eideteker. I've come around to Gabe's thinking, too.

Huh. And here I was thinking how cool the whole Dharma Initiative story was. I love how they've parcelled out the bits of information while still keeping it interesting. Everything new we've learned seems to make sense with everything that went before.

Why do you feel like they're not telling a story? (Note: This is the first time I've been caught-up enough to participate in a Lost thread, so if this has been discussed, pardon me.)

I have no dog in this hunt; I just remembered that PA newspost as confirming everything I've ever thought about a show I've never seen. Their job is to keep you coming back so you'll sit through their ads.

Of course. However, I'm very picky about my TV shows. Lost has its share of cheesy moments and lame dialogue, but overall it's excellently written.

Agro, this season has been so soap-opera-y. Too much sex and whining. The smoke monster killing Eko really sucked, because I feel like it took away from him having faced it before.

They totally abandoned a bunch of storylines to focus on this Ben thing, which sucks, and last night they add that "Shepard wasn't on Jacob's list." Ugh. So Ben isn't really in charge? What about the kids? What about kidnapping Claire and evil Turniphead/Aaron? There is so much up in the air right now and I wish they would focus explaining those things instead of just opening up another can of soda when they have a 12 pack open and getting flat.

The smoke monster killing Eko was pretty lame, yeah.

Jacob isn't necessarily someone higher-ranked than Benjamin... What if he's one of the psychic children who has the ability to tell good people from bad people? (Given whatever definition of "good people" the Others have been using.)

I really like Benjamin, personally. I was sad to see Henry Gale go, because he was so marvellously creepy, so I'm happy to see so much of Benjamin, and I'm enjoying the storyline. I have heard a lot of complaints about how much time they're spending on the Benjamin storyline... but I like it.

But I can see how you would feel that way, frecklefaerie. Thanks for explaining your point of view.
