And to link with cmonkey's thread,

I saw him introduce John Lee Hooker at a tribute show to Hooker at Madison Square Garden back in 1991.

Aw man. I always liked him. Apparently he was really good friends with Harrison Ford and Jimmy Buffet. They all got their ears pierced at the same time a few years ago.

I had such a crush on him, for the longest time.

I just saw him at the Time Warner center two months ago. He was with his wife, had his signature earring and I was amazed by his height. He looked great and the three other women I was with were in awe.

Me too, iconomy. Plus he was just a damned good news guy. *sniff*

Buffett. Sorry. Well doesn't that just suck. I think the last I saw him was a Michael Jackson interview or something. He was a cool guy.

I always liked him. He might have been old, but far from being a fogey.

Some older dude was walking up to the register with his purchase and was stiff armed by the cashier who said the most hated words in all of consumerdom, "Sorry sir, this gentleman (usually some hapless schlep) was here before you."

He was always a class act, the absolute professional. He will be deeply mourned and missed. I always had a bit of a crush on him, as well.
