I went back to the Ted Haggard thread this morning, expecting it to have devolved entirely into a series of jokes about how long the thread was, but people are still arguing vehemently about issues of religious doctrine.

I love MeFi but we need a good flameout, its been too long. I was hoping Boo_radley would deliver the other day but nope.

I love MeFi. Metachat only exists because MeFi was down just about every morning (and into the afternoon) for Europeans back when JRUN was having its wanton way with the site while Matt was sleeping.

Dodgy and I thought that maybe we'd get a high figure of 20 or 30 Metatalk hardcore types who were also up when the site was down and also suffering withdrawal pangs who might want to chatter randomly, flat-thread style.

Loving MeFi doesn't mean you don't sometimes roll your eyes and groan and occasionally stab at your monitor with specially sharpened knives you keep by your keyboard for this specific purpose... but when it's good it can be very, very good - and it's almost always interesting, even when it's only in a petri-dish kind of way.
