Don't forget to tip the weed delivery person! [More:]I can't believe the attorney's name is really Steve Zissou.
This might have saved Kozmo.com. Actually now that I think of it, and knowing some people who worked for them, I bet their drivers were doing this on the side.

The absolute BEST thing about this article (which I actually almost posted earlier today matildaben!) is that the dude's lawyer's name is Steve Zissou.

I did a double-take, then googled Steve Zissou, and found what I expected...

Oh yeah, someone I know might have availed themselves of that service a couple of times...

Yeah, the police really need to crack down on those violent marijuana delivery people and get pot deals back on the street and in the playgrounds where they belong.

Morons.

This makes me miss living in New York City.

$60 bucks for less than an eighth? What a ripoff! No tip for you!

I kinda thought the same thing item...when they describe doctors, lawyers, etc...I thought, "Yes, quite the criminal element here..."
posted by richat 07 November | 18:24
It is indeed kind of a ripoff. I had friends that used Cartoon for deliveries, and word was that it was pretty mediocre reefer.

Yes, specklet, but it was kind, kind bud!

Is $40-$45 still the going rate? That's what it cost back in college, circa '95. If weed kept pace with the consumer price index, an eighth ought to be about $53 these days.

I know a few people who've used these, but I've yet to try one. I like my pot, but I generally just smoke it when somebody else has it around.

"The dealers, working out of a roving call center, processed 600 orders a day...even on Christmas, investigators said."

Even on Christmas?! Oh noes!

Christmas with my in-laws would have gone so much better with some kind, kind bud.

$40 is still pretty standard, pie.
posted by Specklet 07 November | 18:39
Wow Specklet, that means that in real dollars, pot is 24% cheaper today than it was a decade ago.
posted by pieisexactlythree 07 November | 18:41
That's just the kind of math that you couldn't have done a decade ago, with some of that pot.

Up here, one pays 50 bucks for a quarter...What's the 40 bucks for?

1/8 ounce

Back then we called an ounce a "Z"

My across the hall neighbor on 13th Street (NYC) used to deliver pot for a living in the late 80s. What, they think it's a new concept?
posted by mygothlaundry 07 November | 19:25
This shouldn't be anything! If the guy was dealing coke, yeah, lock him up. Pot delivery is nada, no big deal.

Yeah, thanks, mgl. I asserted that I knew of a service like this back in '89, '90. So I'm glad I wasn't making that up in some drug-addled haze.

Back then we called an ounce a "Z"

Back when an ounce was called a "lid," meaning the quantity that would fit in the lid of a Helmann's mayonnaise jar.
