Business in old towne. I live less than a block from where this shop supposedly wants to open.

Key things the article doesn't mention: Business in old towne SUCKS ASS for the higher class items. The xtian bookstore couldn't stay open because THERE WAS NO BUSINESS for it. (Other stores that recently have closed because of no business: an interior design shop, a frou frou boutique, a children's bookstore, an art gallery)
The only shops in old towne that are doing any business at this point are the tattoo/piercing shop, a coffee shop (offers free wifi), two psychic advisors, a used furniture store, a dive bar, a bead shop, and some lawyers that have had offices in the area for at least 25 years.
I would welcome a sex shop because it would actually bring people to the old part of town! Also, it really pisses me off that the article doesn't mention that most likely the sex shop wouldn't have the dildos and fake vaginas on window display. They'd probably do what all the other area sex shops do - put a tasteful candle area at the front of the store and put all the naughty bits at the back behind a curtained area. They'd also have signage on the door about being 18+.
Also, it would be super double plus good if I could walk to a store to buy a vibrator. The last time I had to drive an entire MILE in order to go the sex shop just north of the city limits! OH NOES!
Part of the reason old towne sucks right now is because the community leaders are trying to make it something it's not. They are trying to make it be this high class/super arty frou frou area. And the people who live in this part of town just aren't that way. The people who make tons and tons of money are on the other side of town and DUH have all their shops over there!
I may actually end up going to the meeting on this thing. Cause the old part of town kind of rocks and these idiots just don't know what to do with it.
