National Evangelical Leader Doesn't Have Three Year Meth-Crazed Affair with Area Man!

There's already a 646 comment thread on this topic on Metafilter. I think we should keep it there, since there really isn't anything worth saying on the topic other than "I feel bad for all the innocent bystanders to this whole mess" and "May the full truth be brought to light" (and I think the Mefi thread proves that point rather nicely).

Not to diss you, LT, of course; I'm just tired of watching everyone dance on this guy's grave, before the whole truth has even come out (because, uh, let's face it- no grown man gets curious, buys meth, and throws it away).

I personally don't give a shit about whether he did drugs or fucked a gay guy or was fucked by a gay guy or paid to be... whatever.

But the whole story, to me, is about how the possibility that he did any one of those things could result in people "dancing on his grave," as TPS put it.

There's my problem with all this: So he maybe had sex with a guy? So? The fact that that's potentially a career ender (and yes, I understand his the nature of his career) makes me very, very sad.

This guy, as much as anybody, fueled Bush's I talk to Jesus delusions, killing thousands and endangering us all. I'm very, very glad he's been taken out. Hell yeah I am (and I don't care about the drugs or the sex either).

I do not want to wade into the arguments about religion, hypocrisy, sexuality, etc. etc.,

I will note one thing that really struck me:

This hooker, this escort dude is 49 fookin' years old. And he's making his living in the sex trade.

Damn. I'm astonished. I thought that was a field with very few people older than, say, the late 20s.

I could care less if you are a meth-abusing, rent boy havin' crazy coot, but if you're making your living off of telling the non-meth abusing, permanent relationship having homosexuals that they're illegal and wrong, and making legislation happen to that effect, you should get every damn possible humiliation out there.

But yeah, Pink - if it's been done to death on Mefi, we can drop it here. I just never hang out there.
