My house is filthy. [More:] Everybody has a different threshold for filth, etc., and this is not a judgement on whatever that might be. Mine has been crossed in a big way, and it's like. . .how did this HAPPEN? I've been cleaning my kitchen for about an hour, and it's just back to semi-respectable staus. Let's not talk about the rest of the house!
I left town for a month and let's just say my partner is NOT the housekeeper around here. I feel your pain.

I have two dogs and three "teenagers". One of them, and I'm not making any judgements on which one, has been pulling half burned sticks out of the fireplace and chewing them up all over the house.

Same here. For some reason I can keep my kitchen and bathroom absolutely spotless without effort, and my living room is usuall okay if strewn with records, but the bedroom and office spend weeks at a time filled with piles of newspapers, books, overflowing ashtrays, &c. before I get around to blitzing them clean.

Luckily I have friends staying with me often enough that I don't let it descend into complete chaos - I dread to think what would happen otherwise.

It's the boy, mgl. I found bones buried in his room when I stayed there.

bp, I'm the housekeeper too, but it's totally equitable, he cooks and deals with plumbing, electrical, and whatnot emergencies, usually with his own two hands, that I couldn't begin to deal with. But we've both been busy, so I've been missing that lil'bit he does, plus my own slackitude = wtf happened to my house?! Plus now I'm on the computer, so. . .

I didn't realize how often I actually do clean until the three month period when I had morning sickness and the kid was severely ill and absolutely nothing (except dishes and laundry) got done. I saw how bad it could get.

I can never tell if it's Not Enough Space, Demons, or simply Too Much Stuff (and it's Lucretian twin: Too Many Things). At some point I should employ what I learned on Romper Room: put everything in its home and make a home for everything. Too bad I never got to ask Rory how to handle the homeless copies of Dragon Magazine, Communications of the ACM, 2000 A.D and that naughty CD that I didn't want my parents to know I had.

In the end I suspect Rory would have said "take a deep breath and tumble forward." So I did. And I whacked my ankle and noggin pretty well, so that's why I'm here right now. Hi.

You people actually clean?

Flame throwers are just so much more efficient.

I just move when a place gets too dirty.

I feel the same as simplicissimus (and hi back, by the way). Not enough space. I've been working on the Too Many Things/Too Much Stuff but books are precious, dammit!!
