Mick Jagger's first non-Stones record. And probably still the only one worth listening to. That's Ry Cooder on slide.
I understand the theory of why people would like Mick Jagger and/or The Rolling Stones, but I have never really bought into it. Heresy, I know, but there it is.

'Memo From Turner' is awesome. Aside from Altamont, it may be the high point of Mick's evilness.

Let any rebellions you pursue go stale, and drug and/or drink yourself into exhaustion and you'll be in the place where this (and the best of the Stones work) makes perfect sense.

Box have you seen Performance? The movie mick wrote the song for? Craaaaaazy! Nicholas Roeg directed it.

"Do you loike flowahs 'arry?"

Jon this is actually one of my favorite songs of all time.

King of Prontopia, to my mind you are missing out big time, but whatever blows your skirt up, yunno?

I've just been called a muskmelon. Your thoughts, Run-JMC?

the vast majority of the stones work does nothing for me. but gimme shelter and sympathy for the devil are two of the best rock songs ever.

I think there is also a feral enegery to the stones that you are not including jon, not just debauch and despair, alhough it's very dark stuff.

Oh agreed. The pre-Exile stuff is all about the raw rock and roll energy, and no other band absorbed rock's primordial source music as fully as the Stones. And Keith Richards is the walking embodiment of rock and roll. and Bill & Charlie are one of the 3 or 4 best rhythm sections to ever walk the earth.

(of course, the fact that I've called out 2 days in a row at DumbCo and am actually hoping to get fired AND started drinking around 11:30 this morning probably put me in a Memo/Exile type of mood today.)

The sunshine bores the daylights outta me....

Did you guys read the article about the making of Exile in Rolling Stone a month or two ago? It was a good read. This is part of it.

Some odd Jagger from 1969. The soundtrack to Kenneth Anger's Invocation of My Demon Brother

I really liked Wandering Spirit.

Performance is awesome, D_W. By far the best non-documentary that Mick will ever appear in.

And I read in Rolling Stone the other day (we get it at work, and sometimes I'm bored, plus I like Matt Taibbi) that Keef wants to get the X-pensive Winos back together.

jon, that's one of my all time favorite lyrics. A damn near perfect song on a damn near perfect album.

and you say you don't like 'balls-out' rock. that album is (at many points) about as balls-out as it gets.
