Hey! We haven't discussed last night's "Lost" yet! *It's all spoilery inside.*[More:]WTF with killing off Eko? Why did they go through all the trouble of introducing three new characters last season just to kill them all off?

I love Adewale. I even loved him as the despicable Adibisi on Oz. I'm bummed.
He drove drunk, kiss of death on that show (I liked him previously but he's declined as a character, dude is a great actor, I like hearing his voice and accent, I find it very soothing). Sadly I think at this point it's pretty obvious that they aren't writing more than six episdodes out and have no idea what's actually going on either. I'm not feeling this season at all. In fact I'm starting to root for the Others.

I'm bummed too. Eko was my favorite character.

I am quickly growing frustrated with Lost in general.

This season ends next week, then we get a new season sometime in the late winter/early spring. Which is weird...

I sort of had a feeling that they were going to kill off Eko even before they did. There was a lot of hamfisted foreshadowing of Eko passing the whole faith thing back off on to Locke. etc. Once they said "Next week someone dies..." I knew he was a goner.

I miss the first season, at this point the 2nd season is totally unnecessary (you could sum up the whole show in an hour episode). Hopefully they do something with this season (Jack gets off the Island and kicks it with Walt in Antarctica) or the next half season...

That's my major frustration. I'd stick with it if there was a clear vision--but at this point, the whole show is coming off as a Tommy Flanagan riff. "And then Locke kills a polar bear with hairspray and he, uh, finds another hatch and,um, inside is my wife, Morgan Fairchild. Yeah...that's the ticket..."

LOST was great in the first season and still was able to captivate at least in the second season. But now they've sort of run the premise into the ground. The whole "you never know what the shit is going on and nobody will ever be able to tell you WTF is up with anything" storytelling technique was good at first but they drank from the mystery well too much and now it's just gone dry.

I guess I feel a little differently. The first season was awesome but I thought the second season kinda blew though they saved face in the end.

This season, however, I'm really digging it. Cause we are getting to see the side that was so mysterious from season 1. But things like the smoke monster still make me go wtf!

From what I understand, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje just lost both of his parents, and is going back to London to direct a film based loosely on his life, so he asked to be written out of the show.

As far as the whole vision thing goes, I keep hearing people saying that they don't think the writers know what is going on, but in almost every interview I have heard/read they have said that they do not "ask a question" on the show without knowing the answer. I suspect they have a very clear idea of how they would like to end the story, but they may not be exactly sure how they are going to get there.

Maybe I'm extra patient from following X-Files for 9 years and basically KNOWING the questions raised would not be answered to my satisfaction, but I think people are being very impatient with Lost.

I think the thing with the past two new seasons is that the mysteries are more frustrating than spooky.

"Whoah, the monster is just smoke? WTF?" = cool

"So, Ben/Henry Gale is going to die and we can|can't trust him? Okay, but so what?" = another damn plot twist for the sake of making things fucked up

That said, I still watch weekly, but damn if Heroes and The Nine aren't better this season.

FWIW, I do believe that Juliet truly does want to kill Henry Gale / Ben Limus and that isn't part of the trickery. The book club scenes were there to support that backstory, as I see it. And plus, what possible good could Ben have of actually wanting Jack to kill him? I guess you could say that it's all a test and Ben wants to see if Jack trusts Juliet enough to go along with her plan to off him, but that seems really stretching it.
