I don't like people I don't know touching me, and would be very suspicious of a strange person on the street offering hugs to the general public. Nevertheless, I teared up at the video.
I'd do this, if it weren't for the fact that I'd frighten more people than I'd save.
That, and the people who need hugs the most are probably also the germiest (esp. this time of year). Hey, I have a weak constitution. BUT STRONG ARMS!!!!!!!
Once my office complex had a fair in its courtyard and one table offered hugs. A jolly man who looked kind of like Santa Claus insisted on giving me a hug. Strangely, it wasn't creepy.
As I was just sitting eating my dinner I thought about why this video affected me so much.
I live alone. I am alone. I am (ulp!) lonely. I miss physical contact with other people. Warm physical contact, I mean, not the commuting scrum which is usually the closest I get to touching another person. Some days the only physical contact I have with another living creature is stroking one of my cats.
If I saw that guy on the street offering Free Hugs I'd be in his arms like a shot.
