I ate too much today ... [More:]We had a team lunch today at a local Indian restaurant. I made a point of not getting to the office at my usual 7am, because if we were all going to skive off at noon for the rest of the day there's no way I was going to do at least 90 minute's more work than everyone else, as most people get in between 8.30 and 9am. Anyway, I digress from the point of this post, which is the food.

Being unable to decide what to have and wanting at least two starters and two curries, a co-worker and I agreed to split our orders. So to start I had:

2 Poppadoms plus assorted pickles
Sheekh kebab
Lamb tikka
Tandoori Chicken
Chicken tikka pakora

Followed by:

Lamb Madras
Lamb Xacuti (cooked with roasted aromatic cumin seeds, tamarind, clove, garlic, ginger, green chilli, absolutely bloody gorgeous)
Pilau rice
Roast potato massala
Naan

Followed by:

Orange sorbet (served in a scooped-out orange)

Followed by:

Coffee and Indian sweets.

I feel like Jabba the Hut.
I ate too much yesterday. And my cholesterol check was off the charts. I lost weight on Atkins, but bumped my already high-ish cholesterol up. Now I gotta go back to more fibre, more weight, more exercise. Blah. Before I get a new doctor in January and go get checked out. I'm motivated to do better, I need too, I'm not old enough for this stuff, but day to day it's haaaarrrrd.

I feel like Jabba the Hut.

If you'd like, I can braid my hair and put on a golden bikini and dog collar, just to complete the scene.

The only thing on that list other than rice I recognize is the sorbet. I'm deprived and ignorant of Indian cuisine.

That sounds SO SO SO good, essexjan. I may need to get some takeout for lunch!

We have Indian food, chewie, and the US has Mexican. Immigrant cuisine that's popular and delicious. In the little place where I live, we have four Indian restaurants on the high street, which is only half a mile long. I would trade any one of them for a taqueria.

essexjan, I just ate and you made me hungry again! Damn you!

would particularly kill for a Goan curry right about now

mmm...indian food...
...here in America we have delightful indian lunch buffets. This leads to sluggish afternoons, indeed.

ej, it's probably a bit far from your place, and it's not cheap, but the Exquisite mexican restaurant on Blackstock Rd (near Finsbury Park or Arsenal tubes) is fantastic! If you're having the cravings...

Mmmm, Indian food. My favourite of all the ethnic foods that I've tried, unless you count the Canadian or North American standard healthy diet I normally eat.

Ethiopian is my favorite ethnic.

Sooo ej, Gemini sister, should hellbient take a picture of you that he'll refuse to take down? ;-)
