It's not a costume. LT becomes a New Englandah.
If I see a Sox hat on him, it's WAR!

Soon he'll be pahking his cah in Hahvahd Yahd.
posted by ThePinkSuperhero 31 October | 10:34
naw, pink, he's not retahded.
posted by jonmc 31 October | 10:37
Does he listen to NPR while whittling? That looks like a "listening to NPR while whittling" outfit to me.

If the answer is 'yes,' I'm calling a deprogrammer.

Teach him to whine about TABOR and he's all set.

LT Answers Your Burning Questions:

for JonMC - not quite down with wearing a Sox hat yet, but boy those Patriots sure look good this season! (p.s. - I want to go to Fenway with a Howdy Neighbah Gansett to drink, so war is coming...)

for Pink - Harvard can kiss my ass. I think JonMC and I should go find some Harvard kids and take 'em for a ride in the trunk.

for Occhiblu: Ain't you a Hahvard Girl? Okay, Jon, first we get her drunk and shit, tell her we like pomo lit, and then take her for a ride. Or you know, just fool around with her for awhile. Whatev.

for Miko: Outlet, we saw it. It was RIGHT THERE. I'm just sayin'.

And if any of youse ever catch me whittling, I'll put myself in the damn trunk.

Why do you think I took the long way home? Seeing Crawford Notch was just a ruse.
posted by Miko 31 October | 10:53
oh, and Janetland? I know about TABOR.

*puts on Giants hoodie, scowls*

Was the outlet in Kittery? One of my sisters went to UNH, and when I visited I remember there were outlets all over the place.
posted by jonmc 31 October | 10:56
Oh, right. And that would explain the "don't worry, hon - I can drive!" chirpiness as well.

They need to call it Was That The Crawford Notch?, really. Or maybe Blinkanyoumisset Pass (see how nicely that fits with the local Indian nomenclature?)
posted by Lipstick Thespian 31 October | 10:57
Oh hells no it weren't! Dear God, man, if LL Bean had an outlet in Kittery....

*gets faraway look, paws for drool cup...*
posted by Lipstick Thespian 31 October | 10:59
Whittling is euphonious.
posted by sciurus 31 October | 10:59
Commenting about whittling is eusciurius.

Yeah, you'll want to be bagging a brookie or somesuch with that equipment.

Ooooooooh, pomo!

*bats eyes*

I recently convinced a very absolute-morality math professor slash Anglican priest that he actually did agree with the basics of postmodernism. I believe it may have been the absolute height of my persuasive powers.

It's all downhill from here, I guess.
posted by occhiblu 31 October | 11:12
staunchly resists the urge to make "bagging a brookie with that equipment" joke....

posted by Lipstick Thespian 31 October | 11:12
see, now THAT's the difference between the Catholics and the Anglicans...one goes for altar boys, and the other goes for Harvard grad girls talkin' trash about pomo theory.

posted by Lipstick Thespian 31 October | 11:14
You've never restrained yourself in such a manner before, LT .. guess you really are becoming a staid New Englander. Bring on the Puritan buckle-hats!

Me too. Then we did Jager shots and danced naked on the bar.

Eh, he's gay, so not really so much, no. We Harvard girls can have friendly arguments about metaphysics without there needing to be the possibility of getting laid.

Sometimes, at least.
posted by occhiblu 31 October | 11:23
If it's a convincing argument, it's foreplay, and if it isn't, it's homework, right?

posted by Lipstick Thespian 31 October | 11:25
Well if his argument isn't at least marginially convincing, foreplay or no, there's just not much point in continuing. I do have standards.
posted by occhiblu 31 October | 11:28
You know, if you people are going to hang around L.L. Bean like that you could at least arrange a meetup.
posted by JanetLand 31 October | 13:21
Me and the Missus thought the same just last night, JL. When and where is good for you? Any other bunnies out yonder?
posted by Lipstick Thespian 31 October | 13:24
Well, I'm about an hour north of Portland, and have a pretty flexible schedule right now, but I don't know Portland or the areas just north or south of it very well, so it's hard to suggest a site, unless anybody has a yen to come to Augusta and see the State House? Or there's always the Gritty's Brew Pub in Freeport.
posted by JanetLand 31 October | 14:11
Well, I'll need to go to Freeport for a parka sometime soon - we should maybe try to meet up at Gritty's, there. Combine it with swing dancing in South Portland on the way home. When I have a good day for that I'll let you know, and we can try the MeFites too -- anastasiav and theora55 are in portland, I believe.
posted by Miko 31 October | 14:29
Sounds good -- keep me posted!
posted by JanetLand 31 October | 14:34
To get ready for wintah, LT, you may need a payh of snowshoes.
