A sugar glider nibbled on my ear last night. That is all. Carry on.
Did he buy you a drink first?

(I'm assuming it's a he. otherwise we'll sink ever deeper into a Freudian morass..)

You were lucky it was just your ear there, Sugar Tits.

(Sorry. It's my new favorite phrase.)

(That's great, jrossi4r, but be discreet, otherwise Kelloggs will hear you and it'll be on store shelves by winter)

Be careful. Now that they've gained your trust, they're casing the joint so they can rob you blind when you're asleep.

Maybe in the old days, jonmc. They don't even have Sugar Smacks anymore. Nowadays it would be Whole Wheat Honey Tits or somesuch.

Though a sugar glider would make a most excellent mascot for a breakfast cereal.

They don't even have Sugar Smacks anymore.

Well, that's understandable. Most people don't want their heroin to be fattening.

Yeah, Whole Wheat Honey Tits just doesn't have the same ring to it, does it...

cmonkey, last night, Scout (I think) was on top of my head, peering down my forehead at me. He kept doing that and it kept making me laugh, making him grab my hair tighter.

Then he nibbled on my ear.

Specklet, if you haven't yet got your Halloween costume sorted ...

Awwwwww. It's too bad he won't be able to get much of a grip on me.

Jan, my friends were trying to convince me to go as a glider for Halloween!

And cmonkey, they'll find a way to get a grip. You'll see.

Knowing cmonkey's liking for body-mods, I think a little sugar-glider ladder consisting of metal rungs embedded in a decorative pattern on his scalp should be cmonkey's next project.

maybe wrap some canvas around the rungs and make a little tiny treadmill.

This is a dumb question, but here goes: Do they get very friendly as they bond with you? In a kitten/cat, rub against you kind of way? 'Cause they are so very cute, and I'd love to see them running around and leaping happily on to you. Or are they basically shy?

That's not a dumb question at all, my dear.

Yep, as you go through the bonding process, they will eventually come running to you and jump on you and groom your ears and play with your hair. Usually, though, when they're awake, they're not in a snuggly mood; they want to play play play.

Last night was the first time I've ever let them out of the bonding pouch. And it was in a tent (yeah, a camping tent, and yeah, I pitched a tent in my living room) so they were safe and contained.

They climbed all over me and explored the tent and tried to eat a piece of string. It was all very exciting.

Now that sounds like fun! (And I like the tent in the living room idea-room so they can explore, but still contained. Brilliant!)

Now I want sugar gliders...

I'll keep you posted on the bonding process...

Stephen Colbert's guest tonight will be none other than Barry Manilow. || So, how does this work?
