Two questions for MeCha dog owners [More:]

1) Can any of you all recommend some blogs that are good for dog owners - newsy type stuff, tips, info, etc. (I'm not much interested in "Everyone needs to buy one of my new Shit-oodles!!" backyard breeder stuff) Just general info for dog-types.

2) As much as I loathe the concept, I do have a profile for my kiddo on Dogster (you can see it here). I can't help but feel like I've failed her since she has no friends. I tried to get my parents to sign up with their kiddo, but they're in their late 50's and can't be arsed. Does anyone have a pup that would like to be Coya's (and other MeCha's puppers) friends?
Crap. I totally whiffed on the [more inside]. Anyone hope me? Sorry, I've had an extremely long day that began with a phone-call, roll out of bed, jump in the car, and change a freaking tire that continued down the same path. All apologies.

That's a beautiful dog. (Can't help with the blog though, sorry).

It's no big deal - no need to apologize.

I've never heard of Dogster...hehe. So you're concerned that your dog will feel bad because she has no friends? I'm giggling over here. Don't tell your dog!! (she's such a cutie...what a face)

FWIW, there's also a Catster, also run by the same folks. They came about (and have apparently been more successful than) Friendster. It's shameful, I know. But it's a guilty pleasure for me, and aye, I feel a bit bad that she has no friends (like an empty MySpace page). I'm cringing as I type.

Thanks for the compliments, though. I fell in love with her before I even met her from her Shelter Pic, when she was 10 lbs. (25%!) underweight and heartworm postive. If you file through the set on Flickr, you can kind of see her story to recovery. She's all well and fine now, and a completely neurotic nut.

Lord, I hate it when people go on and on about their children...again, sorry.

This is Barney's Dogster page. I sent you a Pup Pal request. : )

My dog's not on Dogster, sorry. Nice looking dog, however. I'm pretty sure TPS's chihuahua is on there if you know the dog's name you can do a search.

I also can't recommend any dog sites. However, I'll throw in that this company makes the best dog balls ever. This one and this one in particular. The latter:

- peppermint scented
- bounces funny
- glows in the dark
- floats
- whistles if you throw it real hard
- puncture-proof (I have a pit bull)

The football is my dog's favorite toy ever as it bounces very unpredictable, like a cat on the run! It has all the same qualities as the above except it doesn't whistle.

I'll also recommend this book on clicker training, though it's currently out of print. You could do away with that evil pointy caller with it. I trained my dog to turn off the lights on command with stuff learned in that book.

Aw....that flickr set! How sweet. That first photo, and the one where she's looking out the window...*melt*. I don't know why you're apologizing for talking about your dog...dogs are the best freaking thing in the whole world.

I just think the Dogster think is hysterical. Cute though! A cool idea. I just gave Coya some bones. See, I don't know what that means...I clicked on a bone and now she has bones, but they're not real, and she doesn't really give a crap. :P

Ufez, I am in love with your dog.

Twinkie would love to be Coya's friend! Twinkie's uncle Owen Meany also loves to make new friends; his blog is also really funny.

Owen is running for President, btw; he writes all about it in his blog.

A dog named Owen Meany! I left bones for The Twinkster and Mr. Numms. So cute.

Owen Meany is a great dog name. I almost wish I prayed. Coya and dogster are cyute.

I am on Dogster, or rather, Nande, my cata-rottie mix is on Dogster. Once she tells me her password, I'll send a request to become pup pals. But I warn you, she is all play all the time!

And I've never come across a good dog blog (or a bad dog, blog).

Theo is on Dogster, or was, but I had an attack of sanity or something and couldn't go on with it. I haven't been there in literally years. Until tonight, damn, when I went and added Django. Meanwhile, in answer to your question, I don't know any dog blogs but from the look of your adorable Coya, I'd say don't worry, you're doing fine. For general info read everything biscotti has to say on askme and I like the Monks of New Skete and then, well, basically it's like having kids. Be consistent, love them wildly, walk them once in a while and feed them well and it will all sort of work itself out. Oh, and resign yourself to dog hair, forget having antique furniture and keep your shoes up high.

Our mutt, Bucky, is about to send your pup a friend request.

This is the first social networking thing I've ever done. Don't tell anyone.

Heh, sisterhavana, one of your Barney's friends is a dog, also named Barney, who belongs to one of my co-workers. Cute little bichon-westie cross.

Mickey and Haley are dogster members, and love to make new friends.

*snorts* Are you and my SO having some sort of trans-atlantic mind meld?

In all fairness, I do the same, as do the Flatmates. Get us all yapping about our respective new "bambgattini" and you can use the tears of bordom from the non-pet owners to water the plants for a week ;)

Sweet merciful crap, no! Coya's anything but a substitute or practice child.

Apologies in advance though for anything that happens in December. We're going to put a lock on the door so she can't burst in on you.

Thanks everyone else. Coya's happy to have friends now. Well, really, she's just happy to have walked, eaten breakfast, and now chill out with a rawhide, but you know what I mean.

My husband has been bugging me to get on MySpace for a year, with no action taken on my part. But I set up a dogster account for my dog about two minutes after reading this thread. His name is Gus and he would love to make friends with your dogs.
