recommend shane some music in the same vein as this (thanks, specklet!) and this (yousendits)? please? thanks!
The dubbiness of the Trainspotting track reminded me of this, Stagger by Skream, but it's a bit more lively - dubstep with a nice mix of clasic dub treatments and grime/rave wobbles.

Also, so not in the same vein, but since I just yousendified this for someone else and you might like it: Melt Banana's Snake Song - ribald Japanese avant-wank free noisecore hootings.

thanks, jack_mo--and thanks for the poetry too: "ribald Japanese avant-wank free noisecore hootings" made my morning.

weird thing: i can (and have often) listened to that Trainspotting track as many as ten times in a row, for well over an hour. it really "puts you in a place."

I'd suggest some Blur, but if you've got the Trainspotting soundtrack you probably know them already.

One's "Trainspotting" by Primal Scream. The other is, I think "Dark Days Theme" by DJ Shadow. I could be wrong though.

Going off the Dark Days theme (from what I remember of it), you might also enjoy Amon Tobin ("Supermodified" might be the closest thing to Shadow, his earlier stuff is more drum-n-bass oriented, but great still).
Four Tet (I know "Rounds") also might be down your alley. As might be Wagon Christ (aka Luke Vibert), particularly "Throbbing Pouch" and "Tally Ho". Both take hip-hop and turn it on it's side, creating a more avant-ish version.

None of these are exactly underground, so you may already know these. If so, let me know, and I'll try and dig deeeper.

You'd defo like their Echo Dek record too, then: Adrian Sherwood dubs of the Vanishing Point album. I think it only came out as a promo and a box of five 7"s, but it's bound to be downloadable from somewhere.
