~~I always use~~ A friend who has far less regard for copyright laws than I, swears by torrent finder. Maybe not for what you're looking for though.

you know, slashdot recently reported btjunkie came out top of the pops in terms of torrents.

I switched over from a host of others like torrent portal, isohunt, mininova etc....

BTJunkie really is the best.

http://karagarga.net/ is really good, alas it's invitation only and I have none.
http://torrentscan.com/ lets you search many torrent sites from a single page, including btjunkie.
Finally, there's more odd, hard to find movies on emule than on bt-trackers, including those mentioned here, in my experience.

For obscure and esoteric stuff Gpod is worth a look - it's not a search engine, but practically every torrent they post is worth a download (lots of art films, odd documentaries, mostly quite wanky).
