Ok, I'm going to try this tomorrow , I'm desperate now ... [More:]As you may, or may not, know, I've been suffering badly from a flare-up of psoriasis in recent months. Steroid ointment works for a while, but once I stop using it, it comes back with a vengeance.

I love fresh pineapple, and sometimes after I've cut one up, I'll rub the fleshy side of small piece of the skin over my face, let the juice dry and then wash it off. The enzymes do wonders for the skin.

So tomorrow I plan to blitz up some fresh pineapple in the blender, along with some live organic yoghurt (which has soothing properties), then over the next few days, rub it into my skin once a day, leave it to dry and then shower it away, to see if it does anything to help the psoriasis.

I'll keep you posted.
I'm a huge fresh pineapple user. It's amazing for many skin conditions. I probably go through 2 or 3 a week. I use some for juicing and some for my skin. Good luck!

So, how do you guys cut the pineapple? I very rarely buy fresh pineapple just because it seems like such a project to cut it up.

I use one of these. It has 3 different sized 'blades' to fit all pineapples.

There's loads of posts om Lush NA forums about psoriasis, ej. Their stuff does wonder for my pizza face.

Thanks flopsy, I'll check that out.

A friend of mine saw your post, and asked me to pass on the following info...

"Please tell essexjan - I recommend nettle/mint/chamomile/licorice/ tea, regular doses of GSE and a beginners dosage of cayenne (I think you can get it in capsules now, it's even included in prescription medicines for stroke)."

All taken internally. GSE is grapefruit seed extract, which is a proven germ/funguscide.

Kiehl's has a great pineapple face scrub that might do the trick.

The psoriasis forum at Curezone (I heart curezone) has a lot of hints and tips as well, although you can tell from a quick read through that there doesn't seem to be one thing that works for everyone, aggravatingly enough. One person advocates coffee enemas and another adovocate urine therapy. You might want to try both or neither of those... ;P

Oh and the steroid ointment - what's the phrase for when you cut back on a medication by lessening the dose every time until you're not taking it anymore? It's driving me nuts trying to remember it. Anyway, with steroid ointment you have to do that or the flare up will come right back. I've also heard great things about tea tree oil. You have so many options, though. It must be maddening.

I've started taking bromelian-a pineapple enzyme--for plantar fascitis, but not as often as I should, so I'm not sure how much it will help yet.

Wow, lots of info here. Thanks all.

I hope the treatments help, essexjan. We haven't gotten a pineapple in a little while but maybe we will now because of this post.

brujita, a pineapple enzyme for fascitis? Interesting, with my last go around, all I got was stretching as a treatment. I'm curious.

It's what I found by googling herbal remedies--my acupuncturist says plantar fascitis is kidney-bladder related (those points especially hurt when she puts in the needles) and I've also started taking Chinese herbs (better with that than the bromelian). Propping my foot while I'm sitting helps too.

iconomy - 'tapering off' might be the phrase you're after, at least that's what it is in the UK.

really hope the psoriasis eases, ej, and if it were me I'd make a bit extra of that mixture for dessert.
