Okay, I'm going bed. But while I'm sleeping... why not post your desktop here, so I can have something nice to look at when I wake up in the morning, hm?
Here's mine. It was made by a 12-year-old girl in India for her art class.

This here is a tiny version of my desktop. It's a photo of the Merrimack River and an old mill building in my hometown of Manchester, NH.

Um. Because I'm a big dork and cheesy romantic, my desktop rotates among a selection of these photos.

No kid pics Mike? With a kid as cute as yours, it seems like the obvious choice.

Heh, no, pi, but she adorns my actual desktop, the walls, my nightstands, my dresser, my TV... there is nary a surface in my house that does not have a photo of her.

My alternate desktops...
1) Earthlights (caution, big download. slow connection? go here to see what I'm talking about).
2) XEarth.

I suppose I could change it just for the thread, but at the moment my desktop is NSFW and thus I shall refrain from posting it.

Isn't mine exciting? I love working with a Standard Operating Environment. If you are wondering about the funny shape, I "found" one of those cool monitors that can rotate into portrait mode sitting on a desk not currently occupied and "liberated" it. I use that as the second monitor on my (wide-screen) notebook.

Here's mine. That's right, I don't beleive in wallpaper (it's just a waste of perfectly good RAM - all my windows are maximized at all times so it's not like I ever actually see the desktop) or icons (that is what the start menu and quicklaunch is for.)

Thank you Rhomboid!!!!! I thought I would be the only one with a generic desktop. In fact I love nice desktops but they take up so much memory that they crash my machines. In any case, I work in UNIX so I use the desktops provided by them (yeah, you guessed it very racy! -not)

On the other hand, I have a huge map of the nightlights Zack posted just above my computer. Does that count any?

This is mine as of right now. I usually have art as my background. Lately I've had a lot of things from Kamala Dolphin-Kingsley and exploding dog.

I've got a rotating set of pictures that my Mom and I have taken over the past few years. Plus I was messing with Photoshop.

Back in the late 90s there was a guy who drew a bunch of images designed so they would tile seamlessly. There were probably thousands to pick from, but I found a handful that I liked and have been using them ever since. The project was called Propaganda, but it doesn't appear to exist anymore, but I found an archive here.

Mine's just a black desktop and a (very minimal) GeoShell taskbar. This is an old image, but it looks about the same.

Geoshell users may be interested to know that I use GeoTasks, GeoDateTime, GeoStatPlus (for Ethernet I/O) and GeoTray. Who am I kidding? Not even Geoshell users would be interested.

I like APOD photos, sometimes, but I mostly agree w/Rhomboid about the wasted-RAM/maximized-windows thing. If the window's not maximized, I'm usually not using the computer, and the monitor's turned off.

Damn, I love halonine's (amongst others). Mine, this week, is this pic with my pup (in the background) hanging out with my parent's pup. Lately, all of my desktopwallpapers involve the kiddo.

I alternate between a black desktop and personal and not remotely safe for work. Depends on who might walk into the office.

Yes, I was amazed by the talent. I just now made a Vox post about this.

Currently. It's a cute pic anyway, but something about the color (WW2-era film no doubt) and the staging just make me think of some sort of Escher painting.

I have my share of really interesting photos and space shots. Probably my longest-lasting desktop was a full-hemisphere photomontage of Mars from NASA, with the Valles Marineris scratching across it like a bleeding wound.

Wow! That's fantastic, stilicho! Can you send me a full-sized version, or post a link? I think my husband would love this on his laptop.
