Ask MeCha: Google Maps API [More:]I'm somewhat familiar creating Google Maps using their API. However what I'd like to do is create a map with a sidebar listing various categories in my neighborhood, so that when someone clicks on Restaurants a pin appears on the map at the location of every restaurant in the neighbhorhood.

Have any of you seen this functionality implemented, and if so, could you show me the example?
Hm. This is sort of what I'm after.

Okay, I found what I need. I knew that was gonna happen right after I posted this. Been happening alot to me lately.

So last night I had this weird LotR dream. It involved the characters, but not really the plot at all. I had just stolen the One Ring from some evil harridan who knew it was useful but not HOW useful. As I fled pursuit I jumped into a cold river and climbed up on this slimy black ice stuff that was frozen under a river bank. Somehow I knew this was how to get to Gollum's crib, but I couldn't get in. So I had to use the other entrance, which consisted of lowering myself in a bucket down a well. There wasn't any water at the bottom of the well, only a crypt full of dead Numenorean nobility. This is where Gollum lived. When I put on my ring I could see the spirits of the dead folks and they were kinda ticked that Gollum was living in their tombs. They didn't mind me though. There was this door at one end of the room that had never been opened, but I managed to open it and it revealed a Elrond-like house hundreds of miles away, a safe place. Not full of Elves, but humans. Aragorn and Gandalf came through the door with me, and we closed it before Gollum could catch us. Only we could pass the door for some reason.

I've had this dream before, but I think it was very long ago.

Well, there's one thing I will never eat.

I think they'd be quite useful as bludgeons.

I had 'em before, but not the blueberry ones. They were tasty, like a breakfast corndog.

Hehe. When I posted that I immediately thought "this will bring jonmc. and if he hasn't had them, he'll probably hunt them down to try."

That sounds perversely good right now. Do they come with a little packet of syrupy dipping sauce? 'cause that would be awesome.

I'm going to eat breakfast at the airport in a few minutes (I'm giving my dad a ride). I'll look for sausages and pancakes and try to combine them if I can.

A cylinder of crisp firm meat, dripping with sweet sticky...

Dear Penthouse Forum, I never thought this could happen to me...

No dice. I had to settle for a large apple fritter and coffee. Still, the sugar content was more than adequate, so I'm not complaining.
