What goes with chocolate that "shouldn't"? So, I just made chocolates with pumpkin inside 'em. They taste great! What other unconventonal things could I stuff inside these suckers to catch folks by glorious surprise?
Maybe a carefully-chosen cheese?

Small dog turds? That'd surprise 'em.

You're thinking of an aged gouda.

Wasabi, huh? I'll have to give that a whirl.

Never been much of a cheese fan. And my dog's too big to make small turds.

Jalapeno jelly.

Mascarpone cheese.

Also, and you probably already know this, but nothing enhances a good chocolate more, and more unexpectedly, than a few crystals of very, very good sea salt on the top, especially good caramel-filled chocolates.

Chilli flakes (or however you spell it) - same reason as wasabi.

Cayenne, curry, chilies...all these go beautifully with chocolate. There's a chocolatier near me who does truffles with fillings like that. She also has a gorgonzola cheese truffle that's amazing. The cheese is blended with a lot of other filler like butter and sugar, so it's really pretty mild, but works well with chocolate.
