Pope to allow Tridentine Mass again! Your choice: put on either your Know-Nothing-the-Pope-is-the-Anti-Christ or your Opus-Dei-to-eliminate-Vatican-II tin foil caps, that "obscurantist popish frippery" the Latin Mass is back!
That's clearly an effective way to bring the Church as an organization into the 21st century: celebrate mass in a dead language.

Too bad they didn't get around to it while my 89 year old aunt still had her marbles. She's been answering the Mass in Latin all along as a protest.

I think this is wonderfull. I've sought out churches that do a latin Mass for Chirstmas Eve for the last couple years.

My mother would have loved this. She said that once she realized what everything meant, the whole religion ceased to make any sense.

Catholics are weird.

MGL, I love that! :)

I have some thoughts about Latin masses but I'm not Christian so I'll keep quiet on them.

I am not religious in any way shape or form.

But dead languages are just too fookin' cool.

Just ask Dr. Ammondt. (the musical note at the top leads to a set of album covers, one of which is slightly NSFW)

What brainwidth said.

While I'm sure that the Church has lost a lot of members due to the so-called modernizing of the Church, I'd speculate that it has lost many more members due to it's percieved lack of relevency in these modern times (does that sound pompous enough?).

Truly, the Catholic Church is *ahem* damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Although, for some odd reason, Catholicism has a great fascination for me, I'm not Catholic or even Christian so it matters little to me what happens to it.
