FWIW, my college roomate used to walk around naked a lot. My schlong was (and still is, unless he's had surgery) bigger than his, but I did learn that he's a natural redhead.

That's exactly what I was thinking, mischief. Maybe some of them were gay and were sort of interested in him. Or maybe they were all sitting in front of their computers laughing their asses off. Doesn't make it right (aka I completely agree with orthogonality), but adds a spin to the story.

I think we can all agree that what Foley did was wrong, but when "Conservative Activists" go on NPR and make statements like "Everyone knew Foley was a homosexual a year ago, and everyone knows that homosexuals think about sex A LOT" (implying "more than straight people do"), we can also agree that spin is lame.

I'm positive straight and homosexuals both think about sex a lot. That is a reason why there are 6 point whatever billion people on the planet.
This isn't about gay or straight. It is about a guy in authority coming on to a minor at the office. A reference from a congressman could get one of those kids into a good school or some scholarship. A bad report could get them thrown out of the page program. The fact Carey liked little boys vs little girls is irrelevant. However the GOP's it is all the gay's fault helps solidify their base.
Foley has been denying he's gay FOR YEARS ("Me? Gay? Hell no, that's nasty! I like women!", pretty much), and then all of a sudden when there's this sex scandel, he pulls out the gay card. It's almost like HE'S saying, see? I'm gay! (and an alcoholic and a sexual abuse victim)- That's why this is happening! He's not taking any responsibility for this thing at all.

Hmm, seems like only yesterday when the sentiment du jour was that the pretenders were the scum of the earth for such entrapment. I guess whatshisname was right about some people growing more conservative as they age. ;-P
May be too late, but I probably should add that living in a farm community that raises cattle, horses, pigs and chickens, the methods of animal husbandry are a way of life that kids see virtually daily. That and hay mows are the perfect place for fooling around.
