Wrong outlook. You want to think about how inconvenient this is all going to be, i.e. you'll have to write up progress reports, apply for renewal, do up the final study, defend it, apply for further grants and postings, have to travel as an invited speaker or collaborator, and make wealthy butts look good (do you REALLY want to be a wealthy-butt-embellisher?). No, not at all the path you want to go down, is it? And it'll be just your luck that they give you the money and make you go through with it. Bastards.

Congratulations on getting everything finished - always a relief. Best of luck in the competition.
