Client just gave me a new Macbook... any software that's specific to the Macbook that I should check out? I seem to remember video of people slapping the sides of their laptops and apps changing or something like that...?
Press the control, option, apple, and number 8 keys all at the same time for a nice effect.

There's a bunch of neat toys for the Sudden Motion Sensor:

SeisMac is a DIY earthquake monitor. There's also a neat whitepaper on using theMacBook as a human interface device.

The side slapping would be the Smackbook Pro app, which has been released under the GPL.(video demo of Smackbook in action.)

I don't know much about software (Adium is useful), but I know a few things the Mac does.

You can hold the shift key while minimizing a window to make it hide in slow motion, for fun.

Text clipping: just highlight the text you want, drag and drop it to the desktop, and a file is created. When you want to use the text, just drag and drop the file where you want to use it and it reopens itself.

There are three different screen captures you can make. The whole screen, just a page, or just a manually cropped selection. I'll post the keystrokes if you want them.

NEW macbook? As in, you have an old one?

Care to donate it to a needy student? *bats eyelashes*

Option + apple key and the 8 key turns on zooming in and out. After you've turned it on, option and apple and plus or minus will zoom the screen in and out.

If you don't like it, just press option, apple, and 8 again.

Thanks, all! Some neat stuff to play with.

Eideteker, sorry, I meant New as opposed to Used.

Ha ha, no worries. I was just jealous over whatever job you have where you get paid in hardware.
