I've read probably about 10% of those books. Modern literature tends to bore the shit out of me. I have, however, read all of these. And here's another movie list by Roger Ebert, that I sorta meme-ified. [self-link!]

I tried, but I couldn't get into most of the books I tried. I think Catch-22 was the last one I tried, and I gave it a good 100 pages or so, but I just didn't care. I put it down and that was the end of that. I think it's just how I'm wired- I can't get into fiction. After about 50 pages, I'm usually like, who are all these people and why do I care about them?

ooh! Thanks for that list, sciurus; I've begun reading a lot more science fiction in the last few of years, and I want to read more. Of this list, I've read seventeen.

From the Modern Library list, I've read 48. I would have thought that I'd read more.

I've read 16 of the top 100, finished all of em. Catch-22 was pretty difficult (but freklefaerie - not finishing Midnight's Children? For shame! :) )

I don't think I tried that one.
