Some of you may remember that I was gone for around 7 weeks in May and June on a special project in a lab with very limited internet access. The project involved evaluating the results of several off-the-shelf software products. It was evident to me pretty early on that there was no way that we'd complete the testing by hand, so I whipped up some code to help automate the process.

Today the Navy lead on the project (it was a joint forces effort led by the Air Force) came to my desk and said that she was in a high-profile briefing with some big wigs from several of the services. She said that my name was mentioned specifically and it was stated that, without the code that I wrote, we'd still be in the lab trying to compile the results. Then she told me that some high-rank guy asked her to tell me that the Navy thanks me.

Wow. I'm not the type that needs validation but hot damn if it isn't nice to hear it every once in a while.
