Weekly Project Runway thread, with spoilers Debuillez-vous! (sp?)[More:]

The good: Vincent is out. Finally.

The bad: Laura was too simple, Uli was too Uli, Michael made a bunny ear bodice and I think Kayne stole the back from Wendy Pepper's wedding dress.

The unchanged: Jeffrey is still a dick.
I like Jeffrey...hehe. He's a bastard and an asshole. But I like him anyway, and I love the things he designs.

My thoughts:

Uli is soooo boring. She bores me, and her clothes bore me.

The whole 'Laura is pregnant' thing bothers me. Not because she's pregnant, but the quotes that they choose to use with regards to things that she's said about her pregnancy and her whole attitude towards mothering are strange. Her clothes this week and the 'dress someone's mom' week were fug. And boring.

I like Michael, but his clothes have been fug too. That shirtdress was fug, the pants with the straps were double fug, and the dress last night was fug.

Kayne....ack. What can you say about him? His dress last night really wasn't too bad, but overall...ack.

Oh and Vincent cracked me up. He was always talking about things 'getting him off'. I thought it was so funny that he kept bragging that he was so schooled in couture and then Nina Garcia said 'That is not couture". His dress pretty bad. Who could wear it without half a bottle of tit glue?

His dress last night really wasn't too bad,

what an odd sentence.

Thank Santino that nutter was finally aufed! He was making me increasingly uncomfortable, especially when he started coming on to that French broad on the boat. Creep-ay!

Oh, and I thought they picked the correct winner last night. In that dress, Jeffrey's American model... YOWZA! In the words of the now departed Captain Kwazypants: she got me off.

I believe what he said was débrouillez-vous.

I didn't "get" Jeffrey's dress.

Michael failed but I still love him because he really tried to do something he hadn't done before.

I was glad that this episode had more designing, less drama. Maybe they are actually listening to the people on the message boards!

Buh-bye, Vincent. Don't forget your Marshmallow Neuroses!

Mats, had I been eating something, I think I would have squirted it out of my nose. *dies, and is dead*

Trish, you MUST read fourfour! He does the best recaps!

Such a relief! Finally the nutjob is gone. I'm pretty sure Vincent's married (although maybe not now that he quit his job and cashed his 401k to become a failed reality show contestant), so I wonder what his wife thought of him blatantly hitting on a French queen of fashion. I also wonder what Jeffrey's wife/partner/babymama thought of the French queen flirting with him.

I think Kayne is going to come up short soon, and I'll be sad mostly because I think his model is gorgeous. (A vapid chatty cathy, but gorgeous nonetheless.)

I didn't "get" Jeffrey's dress either. My Cool Supervisor says that it's the most couture looking of the lot, which means that it's the least comprehensible.

Did it seem like Laura was more pregnant in Paris than she was back in New York? Maybe it was just the clothes she was wearing, but there seemed to be some funky editing going on there.

Also, yes, so glad it was more dresses and less drama. That's the reason I loved the first season.

Just listened to the podcast. I'm disappointed that Tim's French accent is so bad. On the other hand, I'm amused by the way he pronounced "vegan" to rhyme with "Bee Man".

Yeah, w/ respect to the Laura preggers thing: *Puts on MeCha Detective hat*. She claimed in the Mommy Ep. that she just found out she was pregnant after filming started (after sequestering, at least). Each episode is 1-2 days in real time (depending on how long the challenge is). So by the time they flew to Paris, the cast had been in NY for maybe 2 weeks max (maaaybe a month, stretching it). Either there's some lost time between US and Paris, or Laura is more pregnant than she's letting on.

I would hope they give them a little time to rest between assignments, but... yeah.

The continuity people must be hating the pregnancy, though. Hee.

Jeffrey's dress was an absolute mess, made with possibly the most ugly fabric I've ever seen, short of neon polyester. It should have been him on the chopping block with Vincent, not Laura. But then I loved Kayne's dress and thought he should have won this week, so what do I know?

P.S. Did anyone else say "fleurchon!" when they saw the back of Vincent's upholstery dress?

occhiblu - generally they don't get much rest between assignments (according to the producer's blog/video log). Here's a reconstructed schedule:

Afternoon 0:
-Judging, Change Clothes, Model Selection

Morning 1:
-Assignment, Design, MOOD

Afternoon 1:
-Construction

Morning 2:
-Construction

Afternoon 2:
-Hair/Makeup, Judging, Repeat

So I guess a "1-Day" challenge takes 2 days from start to finish, and a "2-day" challenge takes 3.

Laura's dress was crap, Jeffery's was awful, Kayne and Vincent were OK (as was Michael, though I admit that I'm rooting for him). I found Vincent pretty funny; I thought he was a bit of a nebbish, but an amusing nebbish. I was really hoping Laura would go home. And I thought Uli's dress was pretty nice. Nothing extraordinary, but pretty fine.

Man, no wonder they're so tired.

Mats, did you see the "Fleur-Champs!" sign, on someone's table? (Maybe Jeffrey's?) It made me laugh.
posted by occhiblu 07 September | 13:49
I loved that part. It said, "Caution: 'Fleurchamps' Making in Progress" and you could see it every time they did a medium shot of Laura at her dressform. It KILLED me.
posted by TrishaLynn 07 September | 13:55
I did see the sign. I wonder if it was left over from the "fleurchamps[/chons]" video that was in the bonus materials.

It does seem that Laura kind of popped out overnight, but that happens when you've had a lot of kids.

As for the designs, Vincent's dress looked like something from teh clearance rack at Bridaltown. And I thought Jeffrey's was a bit tired. Didn't Madonna kill the whole "plaid is so punk!" thing on her last tour?

And I love the last fourfour recap with the picture of Angela being overtakn with fleurchons while puking a rainbow.

Yeah, but it was more she was suddenly *really* pregnant, and then she was suddenly *not* really pregnant.
