Free Beer! It's a beer. It's, um... Free Beer. It's confusing the helloutta people. Added link for padding is here. MeCha doesn't allow unhelpful link text, so it is here: Beer is one of the world's oldest alcoholic beverages. It is a fermented beverage made from malted barley, hops and water, and is carbonated in almost all cases. A wide variety of adjuncts can also be added to beer, either to achieve a particular flavor profile, or to lower the cost of production.

"Free Beer" is reversed back again here as a cool (I like it, anyway) synonym for "open source." Free Beer! I think that was a band name once. It fooled plenty of people into going to their shows.

If it wasn't a band name, I do recall a string of Maximum RockNRoll ads in the later 80s that promised FREE BEER and then in much smaller type "Now that we have your attention check out some of our cool records . . ."

And, to wit - "Draft beer, not people."

In the National Lampoon True Facts book, there's a newspaper clipping about a bunch of old people getting "tricked" into going to a concert by a band called "Free Hot Lunch".

The Fine Print: Not free, but looks really cool; I haven't had beer from a keg since the '90s at a college party; I found this via a targeted Google page-ad on my Gmail.

In my favorite. cartoon. evar, One Froggy Evening, there is a scene where a singing frog's promoter is trying to get people to come into the theater. He makes a "Free Admission" sign, puts it outside and throws the doors open wide. No takers. Then he makes a "FREE BEER!" sign, puts that outside, throws the door open wide, and gets trampled by hordes of men rushing in. (Scene is at approx. 4:20.)

Stilicho, give the guy a break. After a few free beers, it gets quite difficult to yell "sweeomelabama!".
