ARGH!! The plague has returned! [More:]The undergrads are back. They've overrun the city like a plague of rats. Where's my Pied Piper?
Yes, and their fashion sense is WORSE THAN EVAR!

Last week I talked myself hoarse giving library tours to freshmen. This week I'll be talking myself hoarse answering the question "How do I print?"

Those skinny jeans from the 80's are back. I'm seriously appalled, they weren't awesome then and they're really not awesome now.

I have to venture into the throngs to get my student card validated...Pray for me.

Skinny jeans are OK- it's all the leggings that are getting me.

I like the leggings and skirt look. Tight jeans make everyone except the tiny, tiny people look fat. Nobody wants to look fat.

Word.

And leggings- I'm of two minds about leggings. For every time I see someone make it work, I see two people who don't make it work. I'll be glad when the trend passes away, and only those who love it enough to truly work it will wear it.

I think the leggings are ugly, period. And they really hit their stride in the middle of summer -- wtf? I'm usually too hot in just a skirt!

I would never pull them out in the summer. I've always thought of them as a its-too-cold-for-a-skirt-but-I-really-want-to-wear-it type thing. That's what I plan to do as soon as it gets a bit nippier.

They've been all over NYC this summer.

My thighs weep for leggings to go away. The remind me of days wearing baby doll dresses and scratchy lace around my ankles.

Nowadays, if I ever decided to wear anything with an empire waist, I will look pregnant and this is not a good thing.

Leggings? That's what I wore when I was in college, and I'm OLD!

"How do I print?" is also the thing I keep having to answer. Ugh! How hard is it to watch what a gazillion other people are doing?

And as to fashion... It seems the kids here are still stuck in the rut of showing cleavage, pudgy bellies, and "coin slots" (with or without thong). Who decided underwear as outerwear was ok?

(Wanders off and ponders starting shouting thread.)

Skinny jeans are not okay if you have (like me) chubby legs and can't find jeans that'll even go round your calves.

This is about the only option left (sob!)

There are a few more weeks until this happens to me too. I'm not looking forward to it. And the kids who think it's funny to dress like Napoleon Dynamite must stop right now.

All I have to say is: sorority rush week, southern university. So glad I'm not there anymore (for the time being).
