Breakfast Food Queries: Why is it called "Special K Red Berries"? That's so general. The cereal contains big pieces of dehydrated strawberries. That seems like a selling point to me. But before I ate a bowl of it a few minutes ago, I figured that "red berries" was Kellogg's way of saying that they are some sort of berry-flavored fake fruit specks, and I sort of avoided it. Also, who is the genius that invented 1% milk that tastes like whole and fat free milk that tastes like 2%? Is this a new thing?
Holy crap. I was about to correct you on the 'red berries' thing, that the 'berries' were just formed flavoured apple bits. But there it is on the nutritional info page:

Ingredients:
Rice, sugar, whole grain wheat, wheat gluten, freeze dried strawberries, defatted wheat germ, high fructose corn syrup, salt, wheat flour, malt flavoring,Vitamins and Minerals: ascorbic acid (vitamin C), alpha tocopherol acetate (vitamin E), reduced iron, niacinamide, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), riboflavin (vitamin B2), thiamin hydrochloride (vitamin B1), vitamin A palmitate, folic acid and vitamin B12.

Still looks vile, though.

So they're saying that "the liquid that makes lowfat and fat free milks look and taste watery" isn't actually water? I call shenanigans.

Also, for some reason, I'm reminded of John Updike's novel Rabbit Run, in which a character pours cream on her Cheerios, like that's something that normal people do.

Actually, I've tried a fat free milk that claimed to taste like 2% or whole milk and it was excellant. Of course I'm having a brain fart at the moment and can't remember the name (Over the Moon, or something). It wasn't watery at all, it was very creamy. The only reason I don't buy more of it is that it only comes in half gallons, and my kids love it and drink it up in a day. (or an hour, whatever)

The strawberries taste moldy to me. I wish they didn't. I love fresh ones on cereal.

(I've resorted to half-and-half, prospero, when that's all that was left in the fridge; not bad, really.)

I misread the sixth ingredient as "defeated wheat germ."

I don't eat cereal usually. But I could see having cereal with cream. Heavy cream is freaking delicious. I regularly add it to my diet coke with lime. When I have oatmeal (maybe three times a year) - I usually add cream AND butter.
