Hoping lightning doesn't strike twice So I find out that another friend of mine might possibly have cancer...[More:]

He's got two unexplained masses, one near each kidney.

He goes in for a biopsy this week.

Would you please send nice thoughts his way?

The ironic part is that I first met him at Kelly's wedding--and her first year death anniversary is coming up in about 23 or 24 days.
I'm sorry, TL.

I've known three people, two personally and the other the mother of a co-worker, who each had to have a LARGE benign BRAIN tumor removed. And this in the last five years. Call me a tinfoil-hatter or a cynic, but life is getting weird.

Trisha, I'm so sorry to hear this. Best wishes. Please keep us posted! You and your friend will be in my thoughts.

I have to feel it's less that "life is getting weird" than "we're totally fucking up the environment we live in," but ... yeah. I'm sorry, TrishaLynn. Cancer just sucks, and my mother's fatal cancer just made me so incredibly pissed off at the companies that are poisoning our lives, and at the governments that are letting them do so.

Regardless, however, I hope you're doing OK. It's so hard to go through all this as a bystander; I hope you're taking care of yourself.

That's what I was saying. I just preach too much sometimes, so I was trying to keep it toned down. Don't get me started on all the chemicals in food these days, not to mention the air and water. I read an article recently about trace amounts of prescription drugs being found in water supplies lately, having passed through the water treatment plants.

Anyway, TL, here's hoping they're benign and, if necessary, easily removed.

No news yet, but I had to get this out of my system and since none of my other 'net friends are here, I thought it was appropos.

For some odd reason, I really like the portmanteau word "deathiversary." And in my head, that's what's coming up for Kelly, her deathiversary. It seems so disrespectful to think of it like that. But I can't help thinking of it, and then editing out my own inner monologue to say "death anniversary."

That's all for now.

I'm not so sure about that. What's wrong with acknowleging the bookends of a life?
