29 August 2006

Tomorrow I give notice I'm leaving my job. [More:]I've been recruited to a new job. One that doesn't involve programming: business manager for a retail business. I'm looking forward to the different work and pleased to no longer be involved with data analysis and programming. I have been having more and more trouble sustaining the sort of concentration necessary for the complex work I've been doing.

I'm ambivalent about the transition period as I have clients whom I like and have enjoyed working with. Hence I am giving two weeks notice with the request to shorten the period as much as possible. I have one project uncompleted that I should be able to wrap up by the end of the week.

I have no idea how my soon-to-be old boss is going to take the news. He's been one of the best people I've worked with, but the economics of the situation have become unsupportable.

So wish me luck. I will probably be even lower profile than usual for at least a couple of weeks.
Warbaby, transitions are always scarier right before. This sounds totally positive and I bet you'll love it! Good luck.

Wow, a lot of "moving-on bunnies" recently.

Good luck with the new gig, warbaby; it's exciting to tackle a whole new thing and stretch some mental muscles you didn't use much before (and relax some overused ones!).

Congrats, warbaby! Business manager sounds like it'll be a good change of pace, and perhaps it'll allow you to maximise your slack/relaxation time too. Luck!

Best of luck, warbaby. I hope this change will make your life easier--you certainly deserve it.

Good luck, warbaby! If the economic situation in your current job is unsustainable, your boss must surely be aware of that, so hopefully this will not be too much of a surprise/shock to him.
