Our broadcasts must comply with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. Violations could lead to our the Mecha station being shut down, so please be very careful. Violation of the rules could lead to a timeout or a ban from Radio Metachat.
No one wants that to happen, so again, PLEASE read and understand the rules before you broadcast.
Okay, you're almost there... Instructions for setting up Winamp follow the rules.
Broadcasting Rules
These rules are distilled from the LoudCity page that details how to comply with the Digital Millenium Copyright Act. It's a dry read and has a lot of info that doesn't really apply to us, so I've abbreviated it a bit. Full version here: http://loudcity.net/Services/Requirements/tabid/106/Default.aspx
Before the set
When announcing that you'll be broadcasting, you can advertise "one or two" artists you'll be playing. The rules don't specifically say that you shouldn't mention a particular song; they just say that you can't tell people WHEN a particular song will be playing. This strikes me as a gray area, so let's just say don't announce that you'll be playing a particular song --- announce the artist, not the recording.
Before you broadcast, please make sure that the id3 tags for all the songs you intend to play are correct. (See the info on artist/song titles below for why this is important.)
During the set
In any 3-hour period, observe the following limitations:
--play no more than 2 songs in a row from the same CD
--play no more than 3 songs, total, from the same CD
The rules for an anthology or box set are slightly different from the rules for a CD:
--play no more than 3 songs in a row from the same anthology/box set
--play no more than 4 songs, total, from the same anthology/box set
You can only broadcast recordings that are "authorized for performance in the United States." In other words, no bootlegs.
You must ensure that the song title and artist's name are CORRECTLY displayed on the Radio Metachat page. It's a good idea to check your id3 tags before you begin broadcasting. (In Winamp, you can right click on a song in your playlist, then choose View File Info to double-check the tags. There are other software programs that let you tag too.)
Rebroadcasting
You can replay a set, but there are limitations.
If the set was under an hour, you can rebroadcast it no more than 3 times during a 2-week period.
If the set was over an hour, you can rebroadcast it no more than 4 times during a 2-week period.
