I had my first MeCha-related dream last night! And it involved most of you.
→[More:]Basically, I was stuck in NYC on Thanksgiving because of a business trip. jonmc and Pips, being the lovely hosts that they are, were having a Thanksgiving Day MeCha meetup, to which they encouraged me to come.
I get to their enormous house, which has a view of the Lincoln Memorial to the south and the Sears Tower to the north, and Pips is preparing Thanksgiving dinner, which is NOT turkey with all the trimmings, thank you, but each individual's favoritest food evah. I offer to help, and she said I could feed the pets (2 playful perpetual kittens and 2 bunnies, of course.) So as I was playing with the pets, different people are wandering in and out, but we're all only referring to each other by our usernames. It was a great party. Pretty much everyone was there.
Some features of the enormous house.
-A sunken dining area with seating for about 60 at round tables - this area also had 2 pool tables, air hockey, and several vintage arcade machines.
-A lounge with cheesy 70's shag carpet and nothing but bean-bag chairs.
-The kitchen had this weird appliance that was all-in-one microwave, toaster, toaster oven, convection oven, regular oven, and dishwasher.
-A room that was filled wall-to-wall with one huge mattress (for pillow fights.)
-A first-floor basement (?) - all the dark and dingy of a basement, but without stairs. You know those cheesy beaded curtains? There was one of those made of rusty nails at the entrance of a workshop area of the faux-basement, but I didn't go in.
Then, at the end of the evening, there were credits projected on the wall with names of actors of who was playing the parts of each of the usernames. At least that's what I'd thought, but it turned out to be everyone's real name and some people were freaking the eff out.
