Dodgy and Metachat. What dodgy did next. A video (with a strangely abrupt ending). →[More:]
I recorded this about a week ago, but hopefully I covered pretty much everything - and rambled on pointlessly too.
Obviously the giant bee we heard fly by right at the end was the reason the video stopped so abruptly.
Sorry you're having to give up the reins, thanks for everything you've done (I have no idea what 'coding' is but I appreciate it anyway) and if you don't get your arse (and wrists) to the next London meetup there'll be trouble, you mark my words, Mr Dodgy Geezer.
Oh, and your wrists will get better if you keep doing the bunny ear things with your fingers. That is a scientific fact which cannot be disputed.
Awww.... I've had (and will probably have again) RSI so I can totally sympathize. Thanks so much for all that you've done, and we hope to see you as a participant as much as you can swing it.
It's hard to concentrate on the words that are coming out of your mouth when you are so damn cute! For real. Stop being so cute. It's not even funny.
I think I know who the new person is. Not because I'm psychic, but because I saw a new name added in the admin list a few days ago ... ;) Good luck, new person.
You don't have to do any coding...just show up and make a comment or two every so often. No coding, just chatting. Metachatting, if you will. Come on. Do it!
Yes, thanks for everything you've done, dodgy. Hope we'll see you here a bit more, and that your wrists get to heal some thanks to the reduction in keyboard work. Also, I second matildaben's nomination for geek-man yummayness
Ah, this is quite a passage, dodgy. You've hovered over us like a benevolent god, working probably much harder at keeping this warren humming along than any of us can imagine. I offer you my sincerest thanks - what you say about the community is true. Some wonderful things happen here, and you have made so much possible. Thank you, and do indeed drop in and hang out when you're up to it.
But, but...I don't like change! Actually, the only thing I like less than change is when my friends are in pain, so do whatcha gotta do, dodgy. Hope it clears up and that we'll still see you.
And thank you for all you've done. A million times over.
For what it's worth, I have carpal tunnel too, and I wear ACE wrist splints on both hands when I'm at the computer. For me, anyway, they have completely eliminated the pain. I can't go two seconds without them. Worth a try, maybe?
Can't see the video, but I can guess at the content. What a shame, although it's not surprising to me, as I have noticed your lack around these parts lately.

*looks*
Ooh, now I know too!
Dodgy, I have to add my thanks for all you have done - there is no doubt that we wouldn't be here without you. You have made a good thing (with the help of Queen taz, of course).
I've been out all day today (...and most of the night!), so I haven't commented earlier, but I have to say that I love the dodgygeezer and he was the one who actually made metachat possible for us, for real, for real.
Dodgy will always be the Godfather of Metachat, even if he turns over the father role... And knowing him, he'll definitely take the gun and leave the cannoli. Or vice versa. However that works.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, either through firearms or desserts, dodgy will always leave part of himself with us. Mostly because I've hired a bunch of guys to force him to hang out every now and then.
Now, I hope all of you will join me in giving thanks to the poor little lame boy (that would be the geezer!) for creating this whole place for us to have fun with.
snif, snif. Aw, dodgy, I hope you will still be here now and then, particularly now that we all know how utterly adorably cute you are, which was suspected and is now confirmed. I understand completely though, and in fact one of the reasons I'm not around much myself at night anymore is the same as yours: computer all day + computer all night /= light at the end of those carpal tunnels. The braces do help - sometimes I sleep in one - although, god, they're just so, so hideous, particularly if they're out of the black ones and all they have is the icky "flesh" color which really should be called, I don't know, something euphonious like "Rotting Flesh Color." Much internet love your way, love, and now you must do as we do and post from work. That way your wrists won't know the difference.
and also, you know, thank you so much for all the great, great work you have done. You da man. (did I do that right? My kids say I'm too old to keep it gangsta, damn them.)
