Just be glad you didn't see them naked. I saw the 'home sex tape' of some pro wrestling couple online once and at first I thought i was witnessing fellatio, until the camera zoomed out and I realized it was him going down on her. Steroids are some scary shit.
I suppose everybody needs a hobby and I certainly have no problem with people getting fit, but heavy duty bodybuilders of either gender are kind of grotesque. And all those damned veins, you can take their pulse from across the room.
jonmc- I am indeed grateful to have missed that... it would be like you can't look but you can't look away.
It seemed all night I was harassed by a big freaky blonde guy as I was trying to move out of a large rundown house with holes in the floor, and I was dropping things and trying to pick them back up the whole time.
and, ladies, when viewing male bodybuilders, remember the old adage: built like a house, hung like a mouse.
There was a documentary on UK tv the other night about Greg Valentino, the man with the biggest biceps in the world, which exploded.
They interviewed Steve Michalik, who in the 70s had been a Mr America. He'd started taking steroids and had had terrible health problems (heart attacks, strokes, etc) and he admitted that his testicles are now the size of peanuts.
It's just another body-mod, albeit relatively radical (not just superficial!). Setting aside the health problems, I decided a while ago to refrain from being judgmental about any and all body-mods, even those deemed "unhealthy". (I scare-quote "unhealthy" not to dispute that steroids and other things are unhealthy, but to call into question the idealized pure "health" that contemporary wealthy western culture—especially American culture—so frantically strives for.)
