Help me name my future charges! [More:]

I'm adopting two young sugar gliders! Right now they're called Mike & Ike, which is cute... but not me.

I want something unusual and not too silly, but a little cute.

Help a sistah out.

P.S. Just so you know, this is will soon be all I can talk about, and I will be inundating you all with stories and pictures.
Proton and Neutron. Of course, you are the electron.

Holy crap, awesome!

That was my exclamation of glee, not my name suggestions. Though Holy Crap and Awesome would be pretty sweet names.

I'll try better next time.

I like Mary Kate and Ashley.

Both boys. Five months old. Mike is a little shy, both are very sweet.

They're native to Australia, perhaps some aboriginal words...?

If they were girls, I'd name them something like Pippa and Dot.

On preview: Frick and Frack is hilarious, but perhaps a little too silly. Oooh, Zooey is good...

Belle and Sebastian?
posted by pieisexactlythree 17 August | 18:42
Geefle and Gonk scared the hell out of me when I was a kid, so that's out.

And I can't name a boy glider Belle! He'd have social problems. I'm alreaady neutering them anyway, he doesn't need a pansy name on top of being ball-less.

But Jake & Elwood... Hmm.

I think I'll have to meet 'em first and see if they're rascally (Jake & Elwood), super cute (Pippin & Tog), very sweet (Beagan & Keegan), dignified (Rajah & Kushraho), or weird (Amelia Earhart & President Taft).

As they're true blue dinmum Aussies, why not name them after the gumnut babies, Snugglepot and Cuddlepie?

Didger and Eedoo didn't even make the first cut!? Those are perfectly cromulent names.

That stamp is killing me though.
posted by danostuporstar 17 August | 21:29
Bugger. After reflecting on the fact that they're blokes, I compiled a huge list of more suitable names complete with web links so you would know who I was talking about. I previewed, corrected an error or two, and closed the window. Poooof! All gone.

Here we go again. (Bundaberg in Queensland is the sugar capital of Australia).

Bundy and Coke
(A popular drink)

Ned and Dan
(Jessie James in home made armor and his smarter brother, who some say was hanged in his place)

Burke and Wills
(Aussie versions of Lewis and Clark)

Bert and Charlie (or Chilla or Smithy as he was also known)
They were the two most influential early aviators (though Orville and Wilbur is an awesome suggestion). Both from Queensland, and Bert was from Bundaberg.

Roy and HG
(Just to make up for the Gumnut Babies thing. The two blokiest blokes in all of blokedom. Very, very funny and very, very smart too).

Hoges and Strop
Iconic Aussie comic and sidekick.

I'm sure the other Aussies will have a heap of suggestions.

Oops. Not my day today.

Burke and Wills
posted by GeckoDundee 17 August | 21:36
C'mon Dan, every other bloke around here's called either Didger or Eedoo. Why not just call them Davo and Johnno and be done with it?
