eeeeewwww! I demand pictures! Also, what's a cryptozoologist?
posted by pieisexactlythree 16 August | 16:51
I searched for pics, couldn't find any yet.

For five hundred bucks I know a guy who can put together a rat-dog for you in 48 hours. Only four hundred bucks if you supply the dog and the rat.

pie: cryptozoology. Man, I'd love to do that for a living. It's probably much less glamorous in real life, though.

Slack: Can I have his number? I've been wanting a hippo-puppy for ages.

Oh yeah, didn't Christian Slater play one of those in an Uwe Boll film?

Chupacabra has come. My children, it is the time of the unraveling. All shall perish.

Ruh roh.

weretable beat me to the chupacabra! Rats! (ha ha ha ha clunk.)

Somebody go get that skull. Sheesh.

My first thought was that, surely, it was Sam, the world's uglyest dog, but his alibi is pretty air-tight.

A couple of pictures from this article but they're pathetically small.
posted by porpoise 16 August | 17:59
That looks pretty doggish to me. I was hoping for something more chupacabra-ish.
posted by small_ruminant 16 August | 18:01
That doesn't look like a rat at all. Nor especially evil. Evil smelling, perhaps.

I want photos of this thing already!

Beast

that is sad even if he was stinky.
posted by getoffmylawn 16 August | 18:49
Yuck. Looks like there some goat in there too (lending credence to the chupacabra theories), but those teeth look almost human to me.

I may be the only one to say this, but I think this animal is beautiful. I feel sadness when I look at his face; not dread or terror. It strikes me as a lonely end to a lonely animal. Sad.

Wadda ya think it was? A jacked up dog? The body looks like a dogs, but that face... yeah I agree with LT, must have been pretty lonely.
posted by Divine_Wino 16 August | 22:02
Well shit. But if it was going around attacking things, what else would it be BUT lonely?

It's the mainline quaker/catholic liberation theology liberal in me, pups, sympathy for all the sinners, hasn't quite been ground out of me by the whirling horrors of the real world, at least not for dog-things in Maine. If that thing was after my pets or my livestock I'd give it both barrels but I'd surely tip a glass and shed a tear in its honor after the shoveling was done.

Holy m'freakin cow. Am I the only who's going to have nightmares after seeing that picture? The eyes are so human looking...

"This is something I've never seen before. It's an evil-looking thing," he said.

Ehh, it's an animal, probably much smarter than the average hysterical person.

Did anyone else think of the Weekly World News when they saw this?

I work as a wildlife Photographer in the area where this beast was found and we have crossed paths several times. It was a ferril dog with bad breath, that was only interested in a free lunch. The dog was aproachable but aprihensive as was I, but i did manage to feed it a piece of my sandwich. Some morron kicked it out of the house and it has had to fight like hell to survive. The real story is about animal abandonment

The picture is of a dog that suffered head tramma when hit by a speeding car. It baked in the sun for 4 days and got pecked on by a bunch of local vultures. That is when a curious neighbor went to see what all the ruckuss was about, and got some great photos.
