I hope they throw the book at this bastard. [More:]I watch "Animal Cops" a couple of times a week, and sometimes it's all I can do not to throw things at the TV and wake the neighbors yelling profanity at these creeps.
I hope they throw the hot oil at this bastard.

(also, cruelty to animals, along with fire-setting and bedwetting is (statistically) linked to other criminal behavior as well.

I cannot watch that show. It gets me too upset. And I'm not reading that article, you sicko!

I often have the same response, yet I can watch Cops, or Forensic Files with relish. Odd that animal cruelty upsets us more than human cruelty. Not a judgement, just an observation, since I deplore both.

It hurts my soul to read things like that. I can't stand the thought of animals in pain.

Very true, jonmc.

The show upsets me a lot, too, mike. It's always so rewarding to see the abused animals healthy and again and adopted out to homes at the end, though.

(Also, I have a longstanding crush on Max, from the Houston SPCA.)

I don't think animal cruelty is a felony. It should be. But most cases like this get a minimal punishment and are never really taken seriously by the system.

PLEASE, please follow this and send e-mails or letters to the prosecutor asking him to prosecute to the full extent of the law and ALSO to prosecute this guy for ANYTHING ELSE HE CAN THINK OF. Often an animal abuser gets nailed with a different charge that carries a better sentence than cruelty to animals.

Also, you can always write to your elected representatives asking for stronger anti-cruelty laws. You can find your specific local, State and Federal legislators online or send me an e-mail and I'll look them up.

Yeah, that last point is pretty important, shane -- in a lot of states, the perps get a minimal punishment because that's all there is in the law. You can't put people away for this kind of horrible behavior if the law doesn't call for it.

I'm also surprised there isn't some kind of required psychiatric examination for someone like this.

I feel exactly the same way jonmc...I think it has to do with their innocense and lack of control. Some humans think they rule over every other living creature. It really pisses me off.

I also cannot watch that show...no no no no no

jonmc, I couple years ago I dated a woman who taught high school econ and social studies and she noticed this pattern: She observed that when she showed a video to her students that included people killing animals, a great many parents complained. However, documentaries on subjects like the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, in which people were killed (and in which many other awful things were depicted) illicited no response whatsoever.
