Dude, Good Stuff A thread for good news, 'cause I have some. Tell me yours. →[More:]So today I found out that the job I got in early August is going to go full time at the money I was asking for (W0ot! Even if it's a grand less than I was making 6 years ago & that wasn't much, still! It is a salary! Health insurance here I come!) AND I won best Mefi post on Sunday which makes me feel all warm & fuzzy inside, particularly since I had totally forgotten that there was a contest going on. So I am all happy today. Yay!

Congrats!

I've just gotten a big promotion starting basically now (officially next Monday). I got the new The New York Dolls cd, and Amazon messed up and sent me the wrong edition, so I got one with a DVD extra and bonus track. (Oh, and it rocks!) A friend bought me blueberry juice.

Great news, everybody.

So I told my brother about this woman I fell in love with, and he musta caught some tone in my voice, because the first thing he says to me is, "You know, I don't have to be your best man or anything; I mean, I'd totally understand it if you want a friend to be best man -- there's no quid pro quo at work here."

And I was like, "Dude! You're my fucking brother, and though I have great friends, I have none better than you. Relax, now, and let's not put the cart before the horse, shall we?"

HOORAY, MGL! That's such awesome news re: the job! :) Congrats, congrats.

Good news... hmmm. I just found out I'm going to have to work 10 hours a day for the rest of this week, starting at 4pm every day instead of the 7 am I've been doing all summer, BUT: then we're leaving Sunday on a 5-day camping trip, so I can look forward to that even if this week starts getting bumpy.

As for me...I had a pretty cool birthday and got to see a bunch of friends. One of my best friends is getting married to a wonderful woman next week and a girl that I've been having a sort of LDR with is coming to visit!

I... don't think I have any? My best friend is coming to visit in a few weeks, but she's due to fly in to JFK from Heathrow on Sep 11. Hence, at the moment I am more anxious than happy. I don't care if that's irrational.

I got a six pack of Kirin Ichiban cans for 4 bucks at the Sunrise mart on Broome St. and I also haven't killed anyone yet today, so everything's 5 by 5 at this point. I got a $20 dollar little mp3 player from Woot to replace my ipod and I can listen to TV on the Radio's Return to Cookie Mountain whenever I want. Hurrah for defying the bastards and functioning for another day everybody, HURRAH I SAY!

Also I can just picture Hugh's can't stop smilin' bluebird of happiness I'm in love sap grin and that's pretty charming to me.

Hey, Divvie, is that TVOTR's new album? I think it either just came out or is just coming out... my friend (who owns Etherea Records in the East Village) said the already released import version is great.

It's the new one, it's magnificent. I heartily suggest that everyone who can get tickets to their show at Irving Plaza in September. I saw them at Celebrate Brooklyn and it was one on the best things I've ever seen.

So, now that you don't need a hospital, you could afford one. Good news indeed.

I have a new doctor's appointment for Friday, because at my appointment yesterday the doctor proved himself to be annoying and dismissive. So my "I'll show HIM!" contrariness is overriding my fear that something might actually be wrong, and I've therefore achieved a nice balanced zen-itude.
