Conflicted... I loves me some webcomics...[More:]and I started reading this one and while I thought it was kinda funny (the shit the guys give each other was spot-on) a lot of the humor is rather misogynistic...or at least sexist.

Or is it I'm oversensitive?
I don't see anything wrong with it. Guys do give each other shit all the time, and it looks like the guys have a special friendship with the gal in pink, the kind where it's okay to objectify her every now and then because you know she can kick your ass back and forth across the highway.

Actually, I take that back after reading the cast page. Seems like the writers have a real fear of committment at least, because almost all of their characters are single and hating it, or not single and hating it.

Eh. Maybe Websnark might be able to help you feel less guilty about it.

My advice: accept it as a "Guilty Pleasure" then read some aggressively cute webcomics like Todd and Penguin or Wally and Osbourne (any webcomic with a penguin except Pokey) or Count Your Sheep maybe with Sheldon and its cynical talking duck inbetween to cushion the shock.

Or just balance the naughty male attitude of LICD with the naughty female attitude of Girls With Slingshots. And if LICD bothers you, avoid Achewood at all cost.

But don't forget. They have a llama.

See, I have a wee bit of a problem with GWS, because I think it's a bit misandrist, especially the way Hazel kept treating her male friend's girlfriend and the way she was bashing the poor girl who worked in the porn store. The recent strips are growing on me, though, because anytime you have a hot librarian in S&M gear, everyone wins.

Yeah, I found that comic distasteful, black8. Yet, I tell Helen Keller jokes on a regular basis... I'm nothing if not inconsistent.

I hate to admit it... but I'm totally confused. This is what I'm seeing. Is that what the rest of you are seeing?

I not only don't get how it's misogynistic, I don't even get the strip at all. Can someone 'splain me?

You need to work your way back a few days to here and here and here.

Ah. Okay. Doesn't seem very funny though... But then, most web comics don't seem funny to me. I like offish sorts of things like The Far Side and Bunny Suicides (which is so Mislapinistic!)... any web comics like that?

That comic took all the funny out of my day.

Oh, you want RECCOMMENDATIONS!
If you like your funny as part of an ongoing storyline: Evil Inc. (comic book satire about a supervillain corporation - start here), Schlock Mercenary (space scifi with 'hard' science, a daily punchline and an alien title character who literally looks like shit - start here), Order of the Stick (Dungeons & Dragons for Dummies, 60% of jokes require no game knowledge - start here), Questionable Content (wisecracking 20-somethings - no, really, they're funny - start here).

Undiluted funny: Diesel Sweeties (pixelated people and robots), Dinosaur Comics (the triumph of dialogue over comic art), Medium Large (previously on MeCha - yes, I'm liking it again) Savage Chickens (the post-it notes make them edgy), Wondermark (antique illustration gone terribly wrong)

I'm not going to recommend Achewood, because someone will come in and say how much they hate Achewood, and that will make me sad, but you should read Achewood.

Yes, you should read Achewood.
