In ancient Egypt cats were revered, worshiped, pampered, and it was a crime to mistreat them. I'm inclined to think it was also a crime to dress up cats in absurd costumes.

The ancient Egyptians knew many things we do not. When the alien Cat People return to Earth we will all be dressed in silly costumes and pictures of us will circulate through the Cat People's communication networks. Many Cat People will chuckle at our expense.
