There's a guy in my town who's great on Southern American music history. He did a whole hour radio show on Stagolee last year. Here's an article from the alt.weekly about the song and what he learned.

Do you collect any other murder ballads? I'm searching for as many versions (and lyrical differences) in the Twa Sisters (Two Sisters, Cruel Sister, etc..) ballad!
